Turns out some are offended by pigs, some aren't. The Koran apparently states that pigs are unclean and forbids them from eating pork, but doesn't actually have a problem with the animals themselves. But centuries of avoiding pigs (because let's face it, if you're not going to eat them what else are they for ?) has led to a wider cultural aversion. Also found out that the bible tells christians not to eat pork either. Who knew ?
