    Norwich sack Farke after their first win of the season.They gave him a new 4-year contract in the summer, but spent next to nothing on players. What were they expecting?

    The Worlds self proclaimed Greatest League shows itself to be a tad out of step with the real world yet again........

    On Boxing Day the Home Teams were going to wear their away kits in support of Shelter to raise awareness of homelessness, however the Premier League have blocked the idea.......

    Gerrard to Villa. Ambitious perhaps or on a hiding to nothing.

    Presumably they've been renamed Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa or SGAV for short....

    Just looked through the international scores from last night...these caught my eye;

    Armenia 0 North Macedonia 5
    Germany 9 Liechtenstein 0
    Russia 6 Cyprus 0
    Czech Republic 7 Kuwait 0

    ...then to rub it in for the Armenians;

    France U21 7 Armenia U21 0

    Just highlights the huge gap between nations...surely at some point FIFA/UEFA have to organise it so there are less games, or more and more top players will begin to opt out of international duty. I'm not* saying that is right...but if you were a top player playing the other side of Europe, would you want to fly home to play in games that are so one sided? Just interested in other people's thoughts.

    *missed the 'not' from the original post.

    Fat chance of that happening. FIFA & UEFA treat internationals as their 'cash cow', Wenger has recently been criticised for wanting a World Cup every two years yet he was one of the biggest whingers when it affected his Arsenal players. The Nations League was actually the best idea for many years as it matches teams against those of similar ranking, at least giving minnows a chance of an occasional win.

    I still think a pre-qualifier for teams outside the top three seeding groups along the lines of what you say would benefit all but that would be too sensible...

    I think it is just fine these so called small and new nations play in these tournaments just as they are. Some notably Island and the Faroes have had surprise wins and success, and another North Macedonia you say won 5-0 last night.... C'mon San Marino!

    The minnows generally are improving even if the proper proper ****e like San Marino aren’t. Luxembourg for example.

    These teams deserve their day out at Wembley or Paris or wherever. **** the friendlies off.

    France have just won 8-0 and I haven't heard a hint of a cry in Paris. Just doesn't generate anywhere near as much excitement when it isn't competitive.

    Just switched on Netherlands v Norway game being played in Rotterdam behind closed doors due to rising Covid cases there......... how long before this happens elsewhere?

    Anyway I'm sure Oslo will be interested as it's a winner takes all game, although the Dutch will top the group with a draw.........

    I've not seen these games as they are played in the middle of the night for me Tramore. I see Norway didn't have a shot on target, so no chance of winning or of doing much in WC Finals like that, though maybe if Haaland had been fit they may have done a bit better. He scored in the 1-1 draw with Holland in Oslo but has missed too many games injured.

    Have to say Os that they did look a poor side...... no real endeavor in first half, a bit more in 2nd half without really threatening the Dutch goal.........

    Oh dear, it seems our erstwhile neighbours are about to be royally shafted. The price of success...
