Who the hell on here has said or even suggested that??!! I'm left wondering yet again, why do some on here make up / invent stuff that people aren't saying and never said?
Springtiger for one, but perhaps you haven't read his posts as closely as some. The suggestion that women can't manage in the men's game because they haven't had the same experiences is rubbish.
Springtiger never posted such a suggestion. Where's the other ones? I'd suggest you re-read what you posted!! Here it is ..... "The idea that ALL people of diverse backgrounds MUST be incompetent and unsuited to the role just because no one 'like them' has ever done it before is just pure rot". (and the caps are yours, not mine). Nobody is suggesting this is the case!
I'm not quite sure what you've read in this thread, but he has repeated several times that women are unsuited to manage male teams. He has also complained about diversity in advertising as a 'box ticking' exercise which was actually what prompted the above post about box ticking in general.
... which, whether you or I agree with it is at least an understandable view point, but back to the issue, what he posted there is totally different to saying "The idea that ALL people of diverse backgrounds MUST be incompetent and unsuited to the role just because no one 'like them' has ever done it before is just pure rot"!!
It's not an understandable point of view, it's rubbish. I think you've missed entirely the point I was making, but that's ok.
My point is about equality not box ticking I think your suggestion is pretty insulting considering you know nothing about me and my life experiences , don’t make assumptions about anyone’s comments based on how you want to read them .
Well that's your opinion. Fair enough. But back to my point, can you explain to me why you felt the need to say .... "The idea that ALL people of diverse backgrounds MUST be incompetent and unsuited to the role just because no one 'like them' has ever done it before is just pure rot" ... when nobody on here is suggesting anything like this being the case?!!
Again, it was a general point about people who take issue with diversity hires, and a specific example of that (i.e. someone not saying all, but one example of a diverse hire) was Springtiger's posts. Does this help? Am I allowed to make general points that align with the discussion or must they all be addressing a specific post?
You are focusing my opinion on gender not me - I’m basing it on what experience of the male game they might have . It would be an essential consideration were I the interviewer And that’s all , It would be same for any applicants , but as I focused on unsuitability if females for that reason I could equally expand that to anyone without that experience .
This is going round in circles, GFAW has already suggested dropping it so I think that would be a good idea.
Just realised that all started from a joke I made about that female journalist. any word on what she was referring to? Does she have an interview with Acun?
