Saw the latest Bond film last night. Not the best one ever, but a decent watch. Will be interesting to see how the franchise moves on.

It was brilliant. We had a lad who wanted to be a pilot and all sorts and he took actual lessons for a while but he was told to go use that to get familiar lol

    Yes.

    9.5/10.
Would have been a 10 if they hadn't ****ed up the pronunciation of Harkonnen (they kept going with Harknen)

Just a shame we've got to wait at least 2 years before part 2 comes out now.

Better than the last Dune movie. Great effects. Still nowhere near as good as the book.

Movie felt a bit slow. It left out A LOT of content and if you hadn't read the book you'd probably be wondering why people are not fighting with guns instead of swords and a lot of other questions.

(maybe to avoid the problem of the first movie being three hours or lore, thirty minutes of plot).

The second movie should be a lot better. Pretty much the first ended right where the book began to get more interesting.

2.5 hours of build up for part two, which will be the movie worth watching.

Honestly, this would have been better as a high budget mini series (like GOT). They did as well as could be expected making a movie of a book where half of what goes on is in people's heads). But it really was too much to go over in one movie, even covering over half the book. As a result each scene isn't very fleshed out, you don't get involved as much, and exciting events feel... Well . Slow because they're not built up.

    Excellent special effects though.

Overall decent movie but nothing overly exciting or a must watch. Part two SHOULD be much better.

As soon as they announced a film, I've always said they should be going down the TV route instead.

Heavily detailed books fit better with the longer format and being able to portion it out over a longer time period, as you can spread the detail and action out.
Not to mention in term of Dune, there are 19 books (ok not all in the main series timeline) so there is huge scope to expand beyond the first book.

19 books? Seriously. I've not read any beyond what Frank Herbert wrote, I think that was about seven or so. Never read any of the ones his son or or anyone else wrote.

Some of the later books almost belong on Pornhub instead of the cinema though... <laugh>

    Frank only wrote 6.
The rest are by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson (together)

Whilst not as good as Frank's, the rest are pretty good. The Prequel books being the best of the post-Frank books.
