Very true Saw a documentary on the evolution off family cars and the consensus was that the safer you make cars the more reckless drivers take chances on motorways etc The wider the envelope the more people will fill it
I hope so I think if he had been driving for Toto he would have had his ears boxed a few times and told better to finish the race with a couple of points than no points for being stupid Horner indulges him too much because he is soooooo desperate to win
He is calmer than he was , but if he fails this year I dread to think what he will be like next year ! Still think he will do it , but it’s still exciting
I have no clue how it's going to play out now..Every time I think I know where, the sport seems to have other ideas. No way I would have thought Hamilton would be so fast this weekend... Which then makes me think that if Merc are just going to burn the engines in to the ground from here on out, then it could be game over.... But it's just feels that there is going to be way more to this.
Does make you wonder, could Merc simply change the ICE every single race from here on out, turn the wick up and just thrash the living daylights out of it.
I don't accept the chance is that little. The chances maybe reduced. It should not be a dodgems out there. It is racing, not a fairground ride. Racing should be fair, Max is a ............. He won't stop till he is heavily penalised for his behaviour. Failing that he will cause an serious accident and I think the FIA should then be criminally charged. They have chosen to ignore their own rules, and shown negligence. I feel quite annoyed about this, to the extent I might make contact with the FIA. They are not above the law. Fot the avoidance of doubt, this is not because i want Lewis to win the WDC it is because I believe the stewards were negligent today. Max is a good enough driver he doesn't need to resort to this behaviour. For comparison, I have a friend who was a professional sportsman. He was injured, impact concussion. The seniors in the sport knew what he suffered but let him continue in the sport. He subsequently won a case against the sport for nor protecting him and received a significant award. The FIA need not to be negligent in ensuring adherence to the rules that are there to protect against accidents.
If Saudi Arabia is as fast as it looked on the simulation video, wouldn’t surprise me to see Merc and Hamilton take another 5 place grid penalty for another new engine, as going on the showing today they’ll simply be too fast for Red Bull again on that race.
The irony is that the penalty was reduced to 5 places to help Honda, now that change could take the title from them.
They are as bad as each other. The ultra politics is just childish rather than adding colour to the spectacle.
sorry don’t agree . Toto is cracking under pressure , Horner is just an ungrateful self obsessed prat .
irrespective they are both looking bad and it doesn't add to my spectacle which is all about racing, not about croft waffling on (utterly ruins it) or constant radio babble and whining. I have shut off the pre and post interviews totally as i'm sick of them and the constant droning but i can't shut off croft's constant not listening or fan boying or just plain getting things completely wrong and i cannot shut off horner and wolff constantly coming on either giving their bull live mid race or chattering on radios. the core is hamilton seered through the filed twice based on the superior engine and turn 1 or 4, did one really good pass for 5th on saturday and IMO actually should have taken not only the engine but all the other components as in hindsight he could have. He absolutely sailed past the ferrari's and then it was only a matter if when. good racing and thats the spectacle, not whinging on radios. Lesson learned: Where there is a sprint race take the full package and race through field twice and be assured of podium. unless the rules are changed regarding when the penalty is applied the top teams should pack themselves with engines whenever there's a sprint race.
Apparently the rear wing on Hamilton’s Merc failed the test in an outer area on one side by 0.2mm. ‘"We had a broken part on our rear wing which we couldn't look at, couldn't analyse, failed the test, and after got disqualified, very harsh," he said. "And then you see on the Red Bull repairs three races in a row on a rear wing while being in parc ferme with no consequence."
and you believe mercs over the race officials? Its clear Wolff is engaged in water muddying and whinging. The stewards were crystal clear in their rulings why he was DQ. If Mercedes want to ask permission like red bull to make a repair they can. the reality is merc ran out of spec in quali so the rules are the rules and the session is ruled out. Its also clear every time red bull were in spec and then made a request that was permitted by stewards. The couldn't get the part back is bullshit as he then told them to cut it up according to himself. If he was out of spec he was out of spec and its their responsibility to be in spec. he ignores totally the fact cars are checked every time and one one of the redbulls "repaired" under permission were in spec. Its also crystal clear that in mexico red bull ****ed quali due to win issues and were in spec so session stands and they are permitted make changes. Its also clear that in brazil hamilton was allowed a new complinat wing and to start at back pf pack (not pit lane which could have happened and hurt him badly) and he could get up to 5th form 20th and then takes another pen and can go form 10th to 1st. whats the beef? Wolff is the first on the radio along with hamilton if anyone goes near them on track. Horner is as bad so this for me is just all tit for tat rubbish. In the end the stewards took extra time to be sure of their ruling here so we have to say those are the guys under most pressure get it politically correct. After that the two teams are liars and cheats and will always try make a big deal out of it.
keep your pantyhose on, I only quoted what the wing failed for and Toto’s response about why they were unhappy.
I have read that Merc are going to lodge their concern about the running wide overtake attempt with the FIA. So they should, same as RBR lodged their concern at Silverstone. I don't think they will need a powerpoint presentation, hopefully they can demand the in car footage of Max's steering angles. If a retrospective 5 second penalty applied I believe Merc would expect Bottas to be promoted to 2nd.
