Certainly don't think that was intentional at all, just like Silverstone had no intent. Just two drivers not giving an inch.
Hill should of waited before diving down the inside, can't believe all he's fans still cry about that to this day, Hill did get revenge by taken him out a couple of times the following season tbf
Nah. Schumacher took him out. It's clear as day. Tired it again against Villeneuve and got fully hit by the bat for it. It was crappy, and though I really love Schumacher as a racer, both are a stain on his record.
hmm, probably, but I saw a really good dissection of it and it's not so clear cut. What gave Hill the opportunity was Schumcher hitting the wall, and that broke his steering. In car doesn't show him doing anything untoward as far as hitting Hill is concerned.
On the topic of Toto, he is sometimes very unprofessional, when choosing his words in interview, for a team leader. I remember his comment last season re the tyre changes for George, an F up was his comment on camera, unredacted. More or less the same today. I do feel there is something we don't know. If it was damage as Toto claims, why not appeal, nothing to lose. Toto feels under pressure, more than normal I mean. Something smells. The obvious is it wasn't damage. Another is someone meddled. There are other possibilities.
Just watched same interview on YouTube and he does seem to be saying it was damage. Passed on left and centre just failed on right! As he also says they were not allowed to inspect it themselves, so they are guessing at damage I think. I think if they appeal and lose Lewis would lose any points earned this race! So too big a risk as they won't rerun sprint or race if Merc won the appeal. So all to lose and nothing to gain!
Was out tonight so missed the sprint - but wow Lewis has done incredibly to make it up to 5th- must have been some drive! P10 tomorrow gives him a huge chance of a podium based on his pace thus far. What are safety car percentages in Brazil? Feel like an SC might totally flip this on it’s head but I don’t think we get many in the dry from memory? What I find astonishing is just how high Max and Lewis’ performances levels are - I mean Max blew the Ferraris away whilst Perez struggled, and Lewis made 15 places. Bottas to be fair did exactly what was asked- can he he nail it tomorrow too and give Max a nightmare to buy Lewis any time to join the party? VB has delivered some awesome laps of late to his credit.
VB really showing what Merc are going to miss. Hamilton just outstanding today. The guy that made me fall properly in love with F1 and today showed why. This isn't over. It's a longshot, but Bottas in P1 tomorrow might give Ham the chance for P3 and a fastest lap, which would not be a disaster given the weekend so far. I can see Ham on the podium or crashing out.
Tomorrow is another day, warmer weather. I think I heard track temperature could be double what it was today. So really a very different race tomorrow. If Lewis can do the overtake on Verstappen tomorrow then the season really will be wide open for the last three races. I hope they don't take each other out.
There was always a pretty clear head movement to look in his mirrors, followed by the chop. I'm convinced he knew what he was doing. Hill would have likely won had he not gone for it right there, but that move should never have happened. But.. it's all history and there is no changing it. But overall, that was one of the most emotional, traumatic and crazy seasons I ever got to witness. Met my wife during that season too, weirdly by being up late for the Japanese GP. Weird how **** works out.
Good vid of Lewis overtakes here: Sorry if it's UK only. Every overtake bar 1 was along main straight!!! I am sure Max and Perez will have watched this and try and work out how to stop being taken on the straight if Lewis gets close. Looking at his pace, unless he has a tangle he will be on the podium. OK so hotter day and more fuel but I would guess he will go on a 2 stop strat and just try and blast past them all on the straight. Lando has already said he wont fight Lewis as they need the points to beat Ferrari so wont take the risks! Hopefully it will be a good race.
Lewis was some 20kph faster down the straight than Max, not much you can do to plan for that other than hope he never gets close. I'm very curious about this new engine. Perhaps it only needing to last 4 races is letting them squeeze some extra power from it.
Wonder what odds you'd get on Max and Lewis not even finishing lap 1. All this build up just feels like its tempting fate of a let down.
Interesting to note the Stewards are refusing to hand the illegal/damaged/interfered with rear wing back to Merc Maybe their engineers are struggling to get it back to where it was when it was on Lewis's car
It does seem weird that fia/stewards & Merc are saying wing is damaged yet red bull repair their wings diluring quali last week when under same park ferme conditions. Think toto needs to get to the bottom of the actual rules.
Let’s see if we get a topsy turvy one and safety cars flipping the strategies on their heads, or will Max sail off into the distance whilst we wait for Lewis to come through? Two stopper?
