Went for lunch with my mum today and some friends.
Someone mentioned the word 'woke'.
She didn't know what it meant.
So I tried to explain the words woke, snowflake and the easily offended.
With the words we can not use anymore.
Her response, 'Well they are in the english language and I've allways used them and not going to change now'.

 

Good on ya, lady, that's what I like to hear. I got razzed on by someone a while back for referring to a young girl as a 'maid'. In the west of England we used that word, and I still do, to refer to any young girl, and I don't expect to change that. Same as you northern guys, would you stop calling anyone 'chook' or 'luv' or WJ stop saying 'lassie' just because some areshole thinks you should?

Know your enemy, Roger (or friend as the case may be) I have my own opinions of things.

 

I say 'luv' to virtually every woman that serves me in a shop,pub etc, always have and I ain't gonna stop now, to date nobody has said anything back as to "being offended"........just waiting

 

But the use of the word isn't just a male thing, I've had it said to me by loads of women.

 

When the term love is used it can be a term of endearment or patronising dependant on age when used by a woman, you choose

 

Normally said by Nora Batty types to me. What can I say, the older woman seems to like me.

Matter of fact, in the west country the term 'my lover' is used a lot, even among men.
