Very nice mate Did you have any honey chocolate ? I can defo recommend that with a good Cognac. Really brings out the honey notes.
Not had the Cornish Honey one yet. Yonks ago went to the cognac region and one day went to Remy Martin distillery, as we walked in so did a mini bus load of people, so just tagged on to them, unbeknownst to me they were on an organised tasting, so we went into this beautiful oak panel room to be sat down and given about 6 free samples of their special stuff, each one was accompanied by dark chocolate, didn't realise until then how well they match up. It was only when they were asking €1200 for a bottle, I decided to bail.
Ha, nice one fella. That tasting session probs would have cost them a few hundred anyway, so that's a great blag. I love Cognac and Calvados. Those french brandies are some of the best drinking in the world imo. Caramel, Vanilla, Honey notes. I'm honoured that you've teamed it up with some of my chocolate mate.
Pre covid we went to France most years, every region has something nice. Weird thing the main name cognacs here are more expensive there than here but always find something very nice to bring back. One of the best though was when we went to the Armagnac region, called into a farm becausewe liked the run down sign, it was like a Stella Artois advert once we got in, old convertible with chickens roosting inside etc.. went into his barn, stayed for about an hour, wife and kids in car, oops, I came out pissed with a new friend whose English was as bad as my French but it didn't matter, €35 a bottle for absolute nectar, went to the local tourist shop after lunch, it was €60 in there
I listened to him a lot many many years ago and seemed to fade away from him then I was bought that book as a present from someone who remembers me taking about him. I need you revisit.
One of those absolute one off geniuses, who produced so much, I'm still to this day discovering his fingerprints on stuff that I've been listening to for years.
The chocolate with brandy thing is a new one on me, never heard of it tbh, but I’m from the stoggie and large one generation.
