Any new manager will be a risk. But very risky, or a disaster (as top-tiger fears), isn't that all a bit premature? We know next to nothing about his managerial abilities, we don't know what he's seen of us, all we know is that he has managerial experience, he's played football in this country so it won't be totally unfamiliar to him and Ilicali evidently thinks he can do a job.
I suspect it will more about the players he has at his disposal, but regardless there can’t be many managers that could achieve a worse points return than our current one has in his last umpteen championship matches
I'm surprised at that comment Plum. Five years ago, there were many no risk managers, who had a reputation of rescuing clubs from relegation, ie Allardyce, Pardew, Pullis, Warnock etc. I agree, those options are reducing. Quite possibly non of those will ever manage again now. They basically knew how to set up a team not to lose and that was all that was needed. It was actually quite low risk appointing them. There was a reference in Acuns statement to local alternatives, realistically could be Houghton, Brucie, Wilder, Farke, Smith. Appointing a Turk who has little managerial experience at this level, and non in the English championship is an absolutely massive risk, and very likely to result in relegation. If they have factored that in, I have no problem with such an appointment, but in the 'risk' spectrum is certainly very high
I saw someone on Twitter say that his teams concede a lot of goals. That sounds a bit Slutsky/McCann to me.
Well, time will tell. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens and I'm feeling reasonably positive about it, incidentally he's Georgian not Turkish, minor tech detail...
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/shota-arveladze/stationen/trainer/7849/plus/1 Wouldn’t say so really judging by the stats here. 0.73 and 1.10 goals a game in his last two managerial roles.
Id say u r basically right. On the face of it, s very high risk appointment ..... unless there's the right team ,/ set up behind him and he 'just' has to focus on leading the coaching.
Any one speak Turkish ?...already a fair bit of Turkish fan interest in City...personally hoping we get a lot more games televised on Turkish tv, anyone know how many Turkish living in Hull ? would certainly expect a few turning up at the Kcom. https://twitter.com/HullCityTurkey
Maybe they will keep McCann as an advisor until the end of the season if they are having to pay him off, same cost?
