I hope not as this sprint just got real interesting. Bottas attack in corner 1 is inevitable but I can't see him being that aggressive but Lewis has a half hour to save his season and it could be spectacular
From PitPass.com It basically says the investigation followed a complaint from Red Bull over the legality of the w12's rear wing!
**** me- the drama and intensity is up a notch now! imagine the Internet if ever Max has an engine fail or something and Hamilton drives through to like a solid 5th place on Sunday! All joking aside- surely Merc wouldn’t have had a go at getting away with something so obvious- I suspect there is a mighty fine line here on the measurements. Anyone getting Malaysia 99 flashbacks after Ferrari rocked up with searing pace only for their floor to get banned later? Weird!!
I like to think merc wouldn’t push the limits that far , but stranger things have happened . Weird as you say !
Does anyone know how often they test the DRS? You have to assume that something broke or was assembled wrong to give it that extra mm. The alternative would suggest the DRS could have been too big for several races, which would be significantly spicier.
Speechless frankly. It is another example of Merc complacency, perhaps even arrogance. Unless.... 1 mm, how would that be noticeable to the eye sufficient for RBR to ask for it to be checked? Might there be some sabotage going on? Might RBR have been tipped off to complain? Just questions, equally valid. It seems Merc are mainly interested in maintaining the constructors championship.
Merc were called in at 10:15 UK time and no words yet? They might try mitigating with the late arrival of all their kit and not having time to do normal checks but can't see stewards accepting that. As it's taking so long looks like a 'deal' is being done to keep championship alive?
Hard to see how Ham gets away with anything here. I'd mostly resigned myself to the title being over anyway so at least the sprint should be fun now.
It’s really strange that red bull complain now… and also how they know it’s over the limit as I bet it’s within a few mm fair if I happens but I really don’t like red bull
It seems to be unrelated to Red Bull's complaint. The FIA document shows they did the test on several cars (including Bottas's) and only Hamilton's car failed. Looks to be standard scrutineering. What I don't understand is why he hasn't already been disqualified. The Stewards must be desperate for any excuse not to interfere in the title fight, not impossible that Merc could get away with it.
I don’t know the usual time scales , but 3 hours now ! this season is exciting , but I need my sleep ………
Stewards have adjourned till Saturday! My opinion is they are looking to try and keep championship alive.
Would seem we just got the answer on the holdup. Stewards have summoned Max Verstappen tomorrow morning for breach of parc ferme. It would appear that the Mercedes defense is to claim that Max broke their rear wing by touching it after qualifying.
Max touches a car and gets summoned. Hes clearly followed hamilton at some point and thought that is too open and gone and looked so this is tit for tat stuff. As the stewards have pointless sprint to deal with they.might throw penalties at both but imo max measuring the gap to complain is a technical infringement that changes nothing whereas lewis has a illegal drag reduction system.giving him a speed advantage. Clearly this is the level both teams are at, dirty little tactics. The have been at it in the media with cross accusations etc for months. It's like as if a proper competition broke out after 6 years of dull one team domination.
