The club needed him off the pay roll, but no club would pay the kind of wage he was getting at Leeds. I'm assuming Fowler refused to go somewhere for less money when he had a contract to get paid a fortune at Leeds that had several years to run. So we agreed to pay part of his wages (quite a large part) to get him off the pay roll. Seems mad now but the club were hemorrhaging money so I guess they thought saving at least some of his wages was better than paying it in full every week. Not that it did any good in the end of course because we went under anyway. Nearly twenty years ago and it still hurts.
Carsley is a useless cnut, results tell you that, as for Danny Mills he is a disgrace and if ever seen around LS11 given some verbal stick, I for one would. The bottom line is what Radz has done for this club is way above all expectations, we are back where we belong and enjoying the ride, long may it continue.
It's the amount of ground we've had to make up that hurts as well. Although like I've said before, as enjoyable as it is to back in the Prem. I personally had some great trips over in our L1 and Championship days. I thought there was a real bond between supporters and it was only about footbal back then.
Yeah some great memories and because I mentioned the twat at Gillingham on the weekend thread it brought back a great day out at Er. I was in hospitality in the east stand and saw the Gillingham owner getting pelters from the fans. I also saw a truly brilliant strike from Fab Delph from 30 yards out that nearly broke the net. A great goal and great player and Im glad we bought back TA with the transfer fee, thanks Ken…. Oh wait a minute
Yes the fans went mental after the Delph goal and was singing the Gillingham owners name, think he was called Paul something or other and going down going down was on the menu too
Happy weekend everyone Would love to keep both Raphinha and Phillips. But if I has to choose I would keep Raphinha.
Scally or something like that. I was there myself, but missed k/o because of delayed flight, also missed the free program that was being given out. A nice sunny day if I recall.
Afternoon all I see Rodrigo got 30 minutes game time for Spain and he missed two good chances to score. I’d like Phillips to be club captain next season so Raphinha if I had to pick one to be sold
Anyone else get there members pack yet ? What is it with the My Leeds branding, should That's his middle name.
Gerald Sinstadt: Former BBC and ITV commentator dies aged 91 please log in to view this image Gerald Sinstadt (second right) with Sir Bobby Charlton and Bobby Moore while making a programme for the BBC World Service in 1968 Former television commentator Gerald Sinstadt has died at the age of 91. Sinstadt's work for the BBC and ITV made him one of football broadcasting's most recognisable voices in the 1970s after starting at Granada Television. From 1970 to 1982, he covered four World Cups for ITV and later worked on Olympic Games for the BBC. "He was a craftsman, a very good commentator and just a lovely man," said Andrew Clement, who worked with Sinstadt at the BBC for about 30 years. While racist taunts from the terraces during the 1970s were often overlooked by football commentators, Sinstadt was one of the first to call out the abuse during his commentary, such as during West Brom's 5-3 win at Manchester United in 1978. He commentated on many other iconic games of that period, including Denis Law's backheel goal for Manchester City against United in 1974 and Liverpool's European Cup quarter-final second-leg win against St Etienne in 1977. He also covered West Germany's victory against France in their controversial 1982 World Cup semi-final and Diego Maradona's goal at the 1994 World Cup prior to his expulsion from the tournament. After rejoining the BBC in the 1980s, Sinstadt was the pitchside reporter on the day of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989 and appeared in Jimmy McGovern's 1996 TV docu-drama about the tragedy. He also covered rower Sir Steve Redgrave winning the first four of his five Olympic gold medals and the Boat Race for the BBC.
It comes with the top tier membership, can't remember what it's called but it's not Gold, Silver etc anymore.
Lucky he wasnt from Yorkshire or Rafiq would have had him hung out to dry too. Getty was a great guy and has had a good innings
And I miss two games a week, plus sky was like LUTV we were on so many times. And Ell didn’t have to spend so much time stocking filling on the breakfast debates
