Villa will be a better test if Gerrard is good enough to manage Liverpool one day. Emotionally, the fans want him to come and succeed. He did well at Rangers which some people said would be an early death sentence to his managing career. "Expected to win, but no one can beat Celtic". Villa is the next test.
He's certainly not ready to take over from Jurgen in a couple of years as it stands now. I'd honestly prefer Rodgers back for a few seasons. I'd hate to see Gerrard make the same mistake Lampard did at Chelsea, but that may be down to trigger-happy Roman as much as anything else. Can't be argued that it was basically Lampard's team that won the CL.
Rodgers is a good call. I felt his stint at Liverpool he was too green and he was too much of a pushover wanting to be liked by the players. He had good instincts though. He wasn't ready for Liverpool but always felt he would eventually be a great manager for someone. With the rumours of United swirling, I hope he doesn't go there. I feel like he would be the manager to finally start winning things for them again.
Jamie Carragher on Steven Gerrard: "I can promise you this: Steven Gerrard will only ever want to become Liverpool manager on merit. And the Liverpool supporters will only want him to become Liverpool manager on those terms." 100%
He got them playing good, pressing football way before Klopp came. As you say, he was naive (and a bit creepy, truth be told). I still think Liverpool would have won that league in 2014 had the board let him buy Williams from Swansea for a measly £10m at the time, but hey-ho.
Lampard now rejected by norwich. That's two clubs in the space of a few days. How his staff has fallen eh? All started the day arsenal won the fa cup. Since then he fell apart defensively and got the sack and is tarnished goods.
Potter is another I'd consider - good, vibrant football, but organised and solid. The problem with managing a top-four side now though is that it's sort of deemed to have to be a club legend or Marquee manager. Nobody would give a talented, but rising manager like Rodgers and Martinez were another go at a top four side. Newcastle will dump , even if he saves them, after a couple of seasons, just like City did when the Sheikh took over.
I think Micah is great. Really different to the others, fun and mixed up the different personalities really well
I said this before they appointed anyone; whoever got the job was always going to be a temporary stop gap
Mediancome put with smith as favourite for the Norwich job and the lampard camp fall over themselves to make out he withdrew form the job Embarrassing. Clearly Smith has a decent transfer record and got villa up so Norwich are looking to next season and dont think chelsea loanees will cut it.
I see Harry Maguire has answered his critics by scoring tonight - if only he could play against Albania every week.
