Baz's follow up piece released a few hours ago has seemingly re-affirmed that it's self funded. Something's being lost in translation somewhere I think..
I was talking to a guy today who has Turkish relatives and is a city fan. He’s adamant Acun is worth more than has been reported
Even if he is, it would still be a lot less than the 1bn+ some on here have suggested the consortium backing him has.
He certainly has a billionaire in his phone contact list along with very senior politicians. Remember he is only buying a Championship club. Maybe the big backers will come along when he needs them in the PL.
I got this when I emailed him and asked what his plans are. “Kulüp adını çok uzun olduğu için değiştiriyorum”
Fair play to baz, that's a great exclusive to have! Things have obviously changed over the last week or so. As last I'd heard they where really struggling to get any solid info... Hopefully it's the start of a more open relationship between local media and the club
he’s doing exactly what someone with his background would be doing - trying to win local hearts and minds. I’ve said upthread any new owners bring lingering concerns because I view all club owners with a degree of scepticism to motives. However Ilicali seems to be doing exactly what I’d hope and expect a new owner to do, so it looks like I’ll have to put my happy face on and get behind him. If he succeeds, the club succeeds and all of that. I’ll tell you what, the T-shirts are (sort of) right. It’s never Dull supporting Hull. If we did succeed to become a stable mid table PL club like Burnley have been recently, how boring would that be? Where would we get our highs and lows then?!
I have had that thought - for instance how dull is it supporting Everton these days? At least they have a derby to look forward to.. but they don't do very well in those either. Lower down, is it fun supporting Southampton? Palace? Burnley? They don't even show much ambition in the Cups.. In a way I'd almost rather be a Fulham/West Brom, winning the Championship every second season then having a crack at staying up in the PL. But still, if we get to a point where being bored in the PL is the worst of our problems, I'd be pretty happy.
I was in nappies. But as said, it's more a question of how those other clubs find it following their club, I certainly wouldn't be complaining if it was us for the next 10-15 years.
