Ermmm they made it big five years when they won the BIGGEST TROPHY in world club football with Raneiri Under Brenda they won the peoples trophy the FA cup but since then they have been treading water
Completely poor comparison. Ole is not good enough to manage any team in the prem. That's proven imo. So whether he goes from the top club in Norway to the top club in Prem or a mid-table club in prem is irrelevant. He's just a poor manager in top flight English football. Also, the standard of football in the SPL isn't quite as bad as fishermen.
If were talking in terms of him taking the lfc job in the future then staying in i jockland makes no fukin sense whatsoever to me. Dead league, **** quality, and maybe...maybe he gets a few games in the groups stage of the cl before theyre dumped into the europa as per. Id be very fukin nervous about gerrard taking the job if his only experience as a manager was in some **** league managing one of only teo clubs who can win it up there in skagland anyway. You learn more from your defeats than your wins, thats a life rule and the same applies here imo.
It’s only proven now ffs, I’m obvs talking about when he took the job at United and applying the same logic you are to Gerrard (with obvs dollops of sarcasm)
Yes and he failed. Also I'd say that's not true anyway, Cardiff was a good barometer of what he was capable of.
And being an also ran until he leaves Villa will prepare him for LFC will it? Look, it doesn't really matter what either of us think. Time will tell. But I'll say this, I doubt you'll be filled with confidence for him to take the Liverpool job when he comes to the end of his tenure at Villa mate.
All Gerrard has proven so far is he is good Championship manager of a team playing League One sides and I'm not even exaggerating. Ole took the top job, there is no comparison with that, managing Rangers is wide of the mark. Everyone kicks Ole but he's got bigger balls than Gerrard and probably far more knowledge now. Gerrard's only just coming out of diapers ffs.
No **** mate Tbh ive said that from the start anyway, i hope he has another job or two or more before he even gets considered for the Liverpool dugout. By then well know if hes got what it takes down here. Never gonna find that out if hes up in skagland sweeping up everything they can win up there each season with a team that already has a big advantage over the rest.
No Sucky The Champions league is the same as putting four sets of numbers in Lotto and getting the right combination Back in the days of CHAMPIONS ONLY taking part it came close to being the biggest competition and you had to be the best to stand any chance Now it is a group competition where you can draw 3 teams who shouldn't even be in the Europa League and cruise through and then lucky dips with a final that could be against the weakest team representing their country As soon as greed and television controlled the European Cup it stopped being as prestigious as it was when Liverpool, Forrest and Villa won it
Well I don't disagree with much of that. I just think he's left there too early. Should've done 2/3 seasons. Then tried his hand at a club like Leicester or West Ham. On the cusp of competing with the big boys and making them regular contenders for Top 4/6. Then he's ready for LFC.
I watched Ireland tonight and with the inclusion of an ex Gills player (Egan) they stopped the mighty Ronaldo, far better offerings than England can dish up. Anyway, back to that Championship/L1 manager Gerrard.
Funny enough Duggie, I use to think that, but I happened to look back today on the teams that Villa played back then, I don't think there was any real competition until the Final.
Yeh i hate to tell you this but football moved on mate, its just simple fact that the champions league is the most prestigious club trophy available in modern football currently. Its not a debate im afraid. I agree the old European cup was more valuable a prize than the current form but fact remains its still the big dog.
