hope it heralds the return of the old style atmospheres...grounds seem to have gone more and more 'stale' year by year. (also maybe allow a little more lee-way with the stewards on the swearing front)

Yeah, it's time to bring that back for those who want to stand. Completely understand why we went to all-seater as those old terraces were potential death traps (or actual death traps in a few cases) but the rail seating is safe and organised and gives the best of both worlds

They'll bring it back from us when I'm too knackered to stand and need a seat!

Need the away fans back in the south stand. Some unreal days at the sol, loads of back and forth, chanting at each other. I'll never forget the piss and vinegar on the faces of the Man U fans when they lost the leauge up here.

There are some fabulous atmospheres in many all seater stadiums and there has been in ours on the odd occasion. It is the people in the stadium that create the atmosphere regardless of whether they stand or sit.

The 'stale' bit you refer to will obviously be the beer getting tossed in the air when we score.... Oh hang on a sec..

Digressing slightly but how come Newcastle still have the away fans 13 flights of steps up in the Gods? I was under the impression they were granted a 1 season stay of execution (poss not the best word to use in the current climate) and surely that time is up now.

That is a strange one that. It kind of just went unnoticed and swept under the carpet. Like you I always believed they had a season to sort it. Saying that's, the 6 second rule for keepers holding the ball came in at Euro 2000 and I think 2 goal keepers have been carded for it. So apparently say nothing and it goes away.

Why not put them in a North Stand corner. At present the North Stand seems to be geared up for the away supporters.
I am sure most of those at the back of the South Stand will transfer over so they can have the banter.

I may be wrong but I believe they have to be adjacent to the big escape tunnels. So SW or NW corners. OK for L1 but when we get promoted back to the Premier league in 2 seasons time going to hate giving up anywhere directly behind a goal.

It does not matter where they get moved downstairs there is a bunch of season tickets holders going to be upset.
I was moved from a prime position at the back of North Stand to the South Stand to accommodate the Sports Bar.
The fans like me who were moved were all ex Fulwell Enders as this was nominated as the home end.
This move ruined the North Stand and the atmosphere it generated.

The North Stand was class when the SoL first opened. We were only young lads who used to go in the Fulwell but we got our season tickets in the North when the move happened. Now it seems like the hardest stand to sell tickets for.

I'm in the family corner now with the bairn but always look towards the North Stand and think 'the Fulwell end looks a bit empty'. I know it's not the same as Roker Park but the North is the home end imo.

People wonder why the players run to the NS when we come out, simply because the home changing rooms were built so the team could run straight to the home end. Its back to front now

The police cells were built under the (now) roker end and they are still there, the security/CCTV centre is directly above the 'singing' section in the south stand to keep an eye on where the aways used to be. The main singing section was the south west corner when it first opened. Change it back next week for me. <laugh>

I stand with my back against the cctv centre and I really don't want to move again.
    Bagged another prime position.
