Also the most fitting name for a club owner in quite some time...

The world's most loyal man Steven Gerrard has demonstrated his loyalty by loyally dumping Rangers midseason to take over at the club he is most loyal to, Aston Villa

He will (rightly) be remembered and appreciated by Rangers fans for preventing 10 in a row, but if I was a Rangers fan, then I would be hoping he and Villa get relegated.

Rodgers and Gerrard both leaving mid-season to take PL jobs is a hammer blow to the league.

Big time and not like it’s a massive club either. You could understand if it was Man Utd, City, Liverpool, Chelsea or even Spurs and Arsenal but again it shows the power of the PL

20 years ago it wouldn't happen in a million years. but the SPL and PL have taken totally different trajectories since the turn of the century.

It's a valid point. Ian Wright also mentioned on a pundit that Rio, Neville and that ilk are quick to lambast players and say they aren't good enough but won't do the same for managers clearly out of their depth.

The SPL is a poor league.
As well supported as they may be, Rangers and Celtic cannot compete on or off the field with the elite of Europe or with most, if not all, of the PL clubs.
It might be a different matter if they were im the PL and benefited from the revenues that go with that - but they aren’t. They really bear comparison with Sunderland or Sheffield Wednesday at present.
Gerrard could never achieve much more than he had already done by staying there and would never have been a realistic candidate for the Liverpool job some time in he future based on his experience managing Rangers alone.
    Hardly surprising he left.

They murdered their own league by grabbing all the cash and supporters.
The level dropped as it became less competitive and they brought through less locals.

Craig Levein won Young Player of the Year the last time that a non-Old Firm club won it.
The title has left Glasgow 18 times in 124 seasons, albeit one of those wasn't the gruesome twosome.
Third Lanark won it in 1903/04.

Villa are basically paying Slipper G to audition for the Pool job, when Klopp leaves and Varpool come calling, Gerrard will dump Villa at the drop of a hat. And as a die hard Pool fan, Gerrard will also be heavily conflicted whenever Villa play his darlings.

Reports saying Aguero may have to retire due to the heart issues that were reported a couple weeks back.

Real shame if so, been a fantastic player.

Looks like Lampard's said Farke this to the Norwich job. Can't say that I blame him.

I think he'd still have a career, due to his name, but he'd do well to improve his reputation.

Hate to say it, but a great player. His ability to find space and finish so quickly and accurately was second to none. At 5’8” , he was never going to get the goals Kane or Shearer or van Nistelrooy would get, using their height and size, but he did what he was good at exceptionally well.
