Top bloke was Cattermole, miss him greatly. We haven't replaced him, and need a hard man up front and in center of defence
You think we should keep a manager who is failing, mainly 'cos it may look better to future prospective candidates? Hardly a good enough reason to keep someone who is not good enough
You have to admit mind the “dip” in form has been on a different level. I’d give him the next game or two, so he has the international break to sort the tactics but a big defeat by Ipswich and that would be it for me. I could understand if he was trying different things on the pitch but he doesn’t change a bloody thing! We all know the tactics will probably stay exactly the same for the next game but with a few players swapped in. However I’m not in charge!
I'm giving him to the end of the season, if we don't improve by then (promotion is not the deciding factor), he needs moving on... I'm KTF in KLD and the 5 year plan
This, in essence, is exactly what me and my dad think. There is nobody at the club who could do what he did. He could easily grab a game and pull everyone up with him. Also captained the team with or without the arm band. Massively underrated imo
No desperation from me. My comments are in relation to watching desperate performances. We have picked strong teams to try and win against poor league 2 opposition. We have failed to do so twice. That's desperate.
If you're happy to concede promotion this year then that really is one of the most passive things I have read on here. It's a must and it should be the target. The second it looks out of reach , action must be taking. The feel good of KLD will constantly dwindle if we are in this league for a second longer than we have to be.
Because he can motivate good players, and inspire young ones, to get the best out of them. Most of the great managers I've seen.....Shankly,Paisley,Clough,Ferguson had those qualities....bet there wasn't much data analytics going on with any of them. Ellis Short's biggest mistake,in a long line of mistakes, was getting under Roy's skin.
If you are using stats to prove his win ratio which includes cup results (not you but another poster has) you can’t ignore them when it suits your argument We don’t sack a manager every time we have a bad set of results otherwise he would have been gone last season when he well and truly ****ed promotion. Neither can you ignore the manner of those defeats, an absolute capitulation to players who looked like they’ve never kicked a ball in their life. Now just because he doesn’t have the same thoughts as you I’m not sure why he has to be labelled like them up the road.
I could be a million miles off track here, But it strikes me that KLD, LJ and Speakman are a pretty close unit and I reckon it would take a lot more than what has happened last month to even consider sacking a manager who won manager of the month a couple of months ago.... as I say I could be wrong about their relationship, but thats how it looks
Finishing 6th or above is the absolute minimum for this club, in this division. Even Parky would have got us to 6th in the Covid season. I accept and understand the chat about the "project" and the long term vision, but that and promotion are not mutually exclusive. We should be able to achieve both, with the squad we have. If we are anything more than a point or 2 away from the automatic promotion slots by mid-December then I'd be pulling the plug, We CANNOT afford to **** up another season in this **** league. No excuses
You talk as if getting rid of him would get us promoted. Who would get us promoted? We’ve tried each year down here to change managers and it’s failed every time. You could easily be sacking off promotion by getting rid as much as keeping him. Rock-SAFC-Hard place
As I said to prehab, how will pulling the plug change anything? What exactly will happen? New bloke comes in, new ideas, wants his personnel, we start again. And he gets till next Christmas, looks like he’s got it right, but things go wrong and the fans turn again and we sack him. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Data analysis was massive for Allardyce though. Absolutely huge. And it is for every successful team nowadays. Klopp, Guardiola et al will all be massive on it. Roy would throw his weight around and upset the snowflakes (as that’s what a lot of the youngsters are nowadays) and he’d fail imo. He’s not managed for years and would hate the DOF setup too.
If you have a manager who is unable to assemble his team to win games then you have to change to a different manager. This isn't a new method, football clubs have been doing this for over a hundred years
I understand that you don't want to see LJ replaced yet mate and you're putting your argument across but as an answer to what exactly will happen? Who knows, but maybe Liverpool and Man City didn't know what would happen before they got rid of previous managers which meant that they ended up with Klopp and Guardiola. What would have happened if they'd stuck with previous managers and didn't end up with Klopp and Guardiola? No one can tell the future and you can't say nothing will change as well as those who want him gone can say everything will change. Unfortunately, you just don't know until you make the decision, but I'm fairly confident that Liverpool wouldn't have won their first Premier League title if they hadn't hired Klopp... For me, Johnson comes across as having an underdog mentality, among other things, saying that expectation isn't high or whatever he's said isn't something that I want to be hearing from a SAFC manager in L1! Remember Moyes getting roundly slated for saying that we were in a relegation battle in August? This is on par with that for me, if not worse. Sorry, but in L1 Sunderland are by far the biggest team and I want the manager to be saying that and telling the players that as well, and then sending them out on to the pitch to prove that we are.
