According to the resuce team on the news, he is an experienced caver, but clearly got into some difficulty during his expedition. He was with other cavers who surfaced and raised the alarm, but not sure when that was done, because it seems a hell of a long time to be down there, but I suppose that's due to the nature (depth) of the caves and why they explore them.

There's a group down here called the Carbis bay crew (they're on facebook) They go exploring old mine workings and adits etc. They are also called in to help with the coastguard and fire brigade when dogs fall down mine shafts around here. Some of their videos are ****in terrifying. Exploring old flooded mines, literally donning scuba gear and swimming through tunnels of water 200ft underground.

    **** that ****.

He may be stuck in a cave, but he still has internet, otherwise he wouldn't still be posting on the coronavirus thread.

I've done it in those very caves.

Only once, ever, and it was there. Near Abercrave.

Very scary. I enjoyed it but you can't get out of your head 'what if?'.

Was happy to get back out in the open.

I struggle to understand because enclosed spaces have never bothered me, but I've known people who are virtually terrified of them.

Did you do the thing where you dive down into a pool and swim through the rock tunnel to the other side? I look back now and wonder wtf I was thinking.

When I used to scuba dive, I did a couple of cave dives, one in the Lake District had a sign about 20 metres in from the entrance Underneath Skull and cross bones it had written, something like, Are you sure you want to go any furthur, people can and have died in here, make sure you know what you are doing. Look back and think wtf was I thinking about doing that.

I love the water, and I've been out in some fukin sketchy conditions over the years. But there's no way you'd catch me swimming through an underwater cave.

No, we were dry mostly. Bar a bit of crawling through gaps.

Straddled this underground river for a bit, which was rushing about ten foot below.

One slip and you were in. Imagined being fired out the side of the mountain somewhere.

Or not making it out of course.
