Our support is as embarrassing as ever. One month ago, Lee Johnson, was the best thing since sliced bread. Great transfer window, football that is good on the eye, a team that will grow together under this management. One month later and a terrible month results wise and our 'supporters' want him gone from the club. Not sure why any manager would want this job. It's a poisoned chalice with club supporters ready to get on their back as soon as the hard times come. Have any of the gobshites come up with a new manager they'd like to replace him?
I think the blame is with the board. Johnson was provided with very little funds, the usual loans and free transfers. I don’t know the intentions of the news owners, but at the moment it looks like the same old story, skimping and scraping. I thought we would struggle to be consistent with the level of youngsters we are using, and that’s proving to be the case. Personally I’d stick with Johnson, we can’t keep sacking managers. IMO he needs till the end of the season and only keeps his job if promotion is achieved. If he is sacked, I’d love Keane back.
The messages coming out of the club during the transfer window and since then have all been about KLD using the word 'sustainability'. The guy hasn't come here to spend money. We are going to decide our own budgets through player sales and this will be the reason they've made the academy a priority. Talk of KLD 'flexing his muscles' when we go up a league is nonsense, imo. I agree about the age of the squad being a concern. I think we only have 2 or 3 players in our squad that are 30 or over. That is incredible because some players don't even peak until they've hit 30 or beyond. There's not enough experience in to guide the young players and now they're being walloped we can see them falling apart in front of our eyes. I'm not sure if going as young as we have was down to Johnson or the direction the club was wanting to go in, either way it's been a mistake. Johnson is potentially one of the best managers we have had in a long time. I can't get my head around people wanting him sacked because results have been bad for one month. I'd rather the club binned off these supporters than Lee Johnson.
Can't agree with some of this. We got exactly what we wanted in the summer...youth,pace and a bit of experience. There was hardly anyone who complained. Yes,there are loans, but there are also buys and options to buy. For the first time in a long time,we didn't opt for journeymen players on their last overpaid payday, hoping they would come good for us one last time. Most of us have been crying out for youngsters to be given the chance. However,I agree we should stick with LJ,for the time being and give him a chance to turn this bad run around. The caveat to that are the rumours that there is no harmony between him and the players. If that's the case,it's not going to end well and the Board may as well bite the bullet, although yet another managerial change is bordering on farcical in my opinion. I'd love Roy back too....but it ain't gonna happen.
I complained. I knew this season would be difficult with the players we’ve brought in. Promotion is still achievable, although the dreaded playoffs are the most likely route for us.
What we didn't get was a couple of hard men / cloggers, we need them through the spine of our team, a center back, center midfield and center forward
We’ve missed players like that for a few seasons now and I class them as a necessity if we want to get out of this league. Attractive football is great until the opposition just starts bullying our players.
We haven’t been clever enough with it though…. the likes of Flanagan and O9 have tried to mix it with them, instead of playing a high tempo game around them. Mind you, I will say we’ve had no protection from the ****e Refs!
He should have got the chop at the end of least season, we need to get rid of him sharpish, was a big mistake keeping him on Hope I am proved wrong, of course.
I'm not one for wanting managers out. However imo opion, we don't have enough units in the team. Ross is, and look at the chew he causes. Few more big lads are a must. Rochdale are a wash with them. We player Wycombe and Pritchard stood next to one of their massive CB, he was literally half the size of him.
No defence for LJ. Strong teams against Mansfield and Bradford, league 2 teams and failed to win either. No wins in 6 over the course of a full month. LJ out.
