Based on what success? Wilder has what, 3 promotions? He's built numerous different sides, he took a cash strapped Northampton to League One by winning League Two. I really think you're selling him short.

Smith took Walsall to.. 13th, then looked ok and got picked by Brentford, who he took to.. 9th. Then signed 12 players and finished.. 10th. And after signing a lot more players and declaring ambitions to push for the play offs they finished.. 9th.

He then got pinched by Villa and took a side that Bruce had taken to a Play Off final the previous season and then took them back to the play off final despite a worrying dip in form without Grealish (sound familiar) almost souring their season, and managed a win in the play off final over perennial chokers Derby.

They then stayed up on the back of a faulty goal line camera that didn't register a goal, and had a purple patch at the start of the following season courtesy of Grealish, then lost 21 or so games this year.

Nothing he has done inspires much confidence that he can build a team capable of promotion, and can only achieve it when handed a team someone else has assembled. He then doesn't know how to progress a side.

With respect I would say you're letting personal biases (possible with him being ex-Sheff U) cloud your judgement about who is the better manager, but that's fine.

Haha of course, no longer matters, just think it's a bit strange to be so one-eyed about it. But each to their own.

Wilder may have a decent record as a manager, but there's absolutely no guarantee he'll do a decent job at Boro. Sometimes it doesn't work out when a highly rated manager joins a club. Proof of this is Warnock himself, no manager has more promotions than him, but I wouldn't be too surprised to see him yet add to his total.

There's no guarantee with any manager of course, it's about equipping yourself as best you can.

We “should” have new owners and a new financial beginning. At that moment we will be the equal of or bigger than Boro. Leaving would not be a tempting option.

When I was at school, many years ago, my father got offered a job in Middleborough. He took my mother up there to check it out, and she came back and told my father in no uncertain terms she was not going to live there. The problem was my father had handed his notice in already. We never went and he got another job in Hull.

"One swallow does not make a summer" . City have finally won a game under McCann but that is not going to keep him in his job. There are currently managers available that could get City up the table & away from relegation (Farke,Warnock,Houghton) but they won't be available for long
McCann needs replacing now. If City wait too long there won't be anyone available & then we have the gamble of taking a foreign manager with no experience of managing in The Championship (like Leonid Slutsky) trying to keep City up
