Still bottom half fabinho looked ran out after 65mins. robertson did well enough but every final ball bar one was ****. The issue you highlight on the no 8s is fine except it seems to be demanded they run at the ball to win it quick and seem to never think of the position before they do it. I'm sick and tired of the free ride trent gets though. He isn't tracking and is wandering about fairly aimlessly this team is headed for 4th like i said. 76 points. its all eggs in the CL basket as we will probably blow both cups again.
Well, i called it earlier. Thought we'd lose that match. Can't believe more of you don't think that it was a foul on Alisson for the first goal. It maybe shouldn't be a foul, but any other game and you see that challenge it'll be a free kick to the keeper. Firstly Antonio isn't just blocking the keeper (and you see it a the other corners) he's backing in doubled over, effectively tipping Alisson over. Then Ogbonna's arm is up and it deflects the keeper's arm as he tries to punch it. Like i said, its a foul in pretty much every other game you see. Obviously, the Cresswell challenge is a clear red, as pretty much anyone bar the ref and the VAR can see. For it not to be even given as a foul is ridiculous. We weren't at the races today, didn't create enough and were too open at the back, but even so we should have come away with a point with that Mane header at the end.
Its a foul in europe mate. 100% but with a 1980s ref and var who failed to send creswell off for full on straight legged studs to knee over top of ball then its a total free for all. Its all about balance and peoepl are not doing their jobs plain and simple. way too much spectating and not enough positional work to get shape.
Fab was brilliant until that 65 mins but as you say, he was gassed. Probably because he's too busy having to cover everyone else's areas. Trent does lose concentration at times but he is completely isolated at RB, even more so this season because Henderson is literally in no mans land defensively. It's a systemic issue. If Klopp doesn't have the personnel, then he should look to hold Hendo back and keep some discipline to our defensive structure.
I do agree with you that I think it's a foul and 9/10, the goal would have been ruled out. But Ali should still be doing better IMO. The Cresswell challenge is just ridiculous - no idea how it's not a red card.
Can someone give me a summary as to why we lost and who's to blame? I was sick yday and missed the game.
100% agree with you. Have seen the first goal about 20 times now. It was a foul as you describe and most times would have been given. If it is now legal to surround the keeper with three players, back into him, block him from moving, tip him backwards and then raise your arms to contact the keepers arms as he is trying to catch or punch the ball, we will have chaos. Yes we played badly yesterday but we were mugged. It was like watching amateur football with a few big lads jostling the keeper Definite red for the tackle on Hendo, both feet off the ground, going in at pace, studs up. If Hendo took that on a standing leg, it is a leg breaker. These things happen, look at the Everton game last year where outright assault went unpunished. The VAR referee yesterday should never be allowed to officiate at this level again. That said, in no way did we deserve to win but a draw would have been fair
Just seen the Cresswell challenge, hes just unlucky his foot comes up and over the ball, the initial challege was fine imho Not a red at all.
that is still possibly a red depending how ref views it for examples see Pogba against us and Holgate yesterday against Spurs .
West Ham scored 1 more goal than us, that's why they won. That goal was scored by Zouma, so it's all his fault.
Sums my thinking up. I wouldn't give anybody in the team except Origi and Mo, perhaps, more than 5/10. Mane and Allison were dogshit. I see Martin Samuel, a West Ham fan of course, is towing old line that he simply jumped in front of him - something Virgil did actually see a goal chalked off for against Uniturd some time back.Misses the fact that his arm in the air - where it shouldn't be - bumped the arm with which Allison knocked the ball in. And he then wen't on to say Creswell 'slipped' during his off-the-ground challenge. Which is the definition of uncontrolled. But all that whataboutery aside, I'd prefer Klopp to be more mad about the fact that, marginal decisions going against us aside, we were in the strongest position going in level at half-time. After that, the best team won. I'm done with Ox now - we had to play him as our midfield is now suffering from the same short-sightedness of last season when we didn't replace Lovren, in not replacing Windy. And Thiago coming on and simply giving the ball away for 20 minutes was no improvement. But credit and praise to West Ham - they were due a win (and marginal decisions) against us, and they were worth it. Still, if that ever-decreasing ****wit Mane had taken that easy chance (how many times did he give the ball away, FFS, and what's with the extravagant flicks and back-heels when a simple, side-footed three-yard pass would do?) , we'd have escaped with a draw. We didn't deserve one.
Can't say I'm impressed with the name-calling of players who have been good servants of the club in the past, because it's not coming off for them atm. There's been the usual massive over-reaction to this defeat on here.
Everyone needs to chill and juat realise it could be worse.. we could be United fans and have ole as manager. Imagine how @Treble and @Diego are feeling right now.
I don't think it's an over-reaction though. The same issues have been with us all season however they have been masked by wins and draws. It needs addressing ...
