This season I've always been confident we could get goals......my worry has been we always look like we could concede. Whenever the opposition has had the ball wide, they've looked capable of putting our box under pressure, and,in front of the back line,we're forever vulnerable to not picking up runners and also conceding silly fouls that we just don't seem to need to do. In most matches, the opposition will have a period or two when they're on the ascendancy......good teams nullify those times so they eventually run out of steam and they can impose their game-plan again. However, we haven't been doing that at all effectively. At times we appear panicky, losing our composure.
cannot argue with that, except i don't feel confident of us scoring now for some reason but as i keep saying our weakness at the back has been evident since pre-season...and that is not me knocking the defence or any player in particular as the defence has to work as a complete unit whereas a midfielder or attacker can all but 'work alone' at times, this comes down to coaching and does not appear to have been looked at or if it has, then a change of personel at the back is needed.
Our defensive play is our achilles heel mate. Go back to the Charlton match......the number of times their right winger got the ball without any of our players being within 10 yards of him was frightening.
exactly, the thing that worries me more is that we have been doing the same thing all season, first and foremost, LJ HAS to work on defence during the break as we simply cannot keep gifting goals.
Was just saying this the other day. I’ve lost count of the amount of times the opposition has someone completely free, especially on their right. Surely that’s an issue with the tactics.
I think it's more an issue with the individuals concerned. No coach in the world would tell Gooch to be 20 yards from their left winger on Tuesday night...
