    MOTD.

Linekar asks Shearer and Murphy. Does the lack of intensity from the players come down to the manager?

Shearer... the evidence is there from the players, if the players wanted him to continue in his job they'd give that intensity. The system, the tactics and everything else comes from the manager

    Spot on <ok>

Danny Murphy... If they want to compete with Chelsea, Liverpool and City they have to change the manager.

No love of Murphy whatsoever, but spot on <ok>

United have stood firmly alongside Solskjaer through this turbulent spell, although his management is clearly under question, but now they have a two-week international break to ponder some more .although one potential candidate (who it should be said United were not interested in) has already gone west with Antonio Conte - in at Spurs

There's a pigheadedness about our board now it seems. They may well have got to a point where they've tried to be right to such an extent that they are becoming stupid about it.

BTW I was listening to the radio from some insider saying that the Board take no notice of social media fans as they think they portray things as worse than they are <laugh> <doh>

I'm pretty sure Ole will go during this International break.

    It just won't be Conte.

Like I said earlier in the week, it's like smashing the **** out of the engine of your ferrari every day while your neighbours are busy polishing and fine-tuning theirs. It's astounding.

    Tuesday mate, always Tuesday.
Meetings are held and decisions made on Monday, announcements made Tuesday.

    That really is incredible.

And why the hell would an international break be perfect right now? When has any top manager thought that ffs?

Especially when Watford, a club close to relegation is the next game? It's just all soundbites. No substance.

Two of the worst matches played by United in the last decades. Consecutive matches and although this was a 2-0, the meekness of the defeat and the way City hardly broke sweat in a derby was completely unacceptable. As bad as if not worse than the RS match. Whether it is solely the manager or both him and the players, the difference between the running off the ball between United and City players was astounding . Our players were jogging for both goals instead of quickly closing down the man in possession. Both goals could and should have been avoided. I can’t see how we can win anything significant under Ole and today’s match confirmed my feeling after the RS match.

Something needs to change or we’ll just carry on with the mediocrity and malaise that now surround the team. But like I’ve said before (and got a lot of flak for) the owners and board won’t move unless the CL place is being threatened. Trophies have no meaning for them.

But interestingly look at the table this evening. United could and should have dropped to 10 or 11th if the teams immediately below them had won or drawn. Yet bloody hell all these teams conspire to keep Utd in 5th. The board and the owners won’t feel compelled to move unless the league position dropped like a stone . May be they are working behind the scenes and doing their due diligence and spring a surprise during the break but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

And I suspect Ole himself won’t be surprised if he got called into the CEO’s office on Monday given the nature of the last 2 OT defeats. But I’ve said this before: who wants to be the one pulling the trigger?

If Arsenal and Spurs both win tomorrow, they go above us tbf.

West Ham could go 6 points ahead. Unlikely as they're playing Livpl, but they could get a draw so will then be 4 points ahead.

Sure but I was talking about today. We should have dropped like a stone after this round, but it looks like we’ll still be lurking around 5-7 no matter what happens. Don’t be surprised if Utd stayed 5th.

And if we had won today we would be on the same poiints as City, by far the best team in the league.
Just trying to keep some perspective here because a lot seem to have us in a relegation battle.

I don't think they are. In all honesty I'd say Livpl look the best of the three.

Well we are the same distance away from each end <laugh>

I think you need to look at the table again mate. Spurs and Arsenal play their 11th games tomorrow. We can end up 7th.

Liverpool are by far the better team to watch when they flow forward (though Chelsea are getting good at that too) but City are the better team on the whole with the way they control every aspect of it at their own pace and their own terms.
My pick for best teams at the mo (not predicting league finishes) is City, Chelsea, Liverpool.
