At the start of the season I would have taken a high mid table finish. However my views have now changed. I am now expecting Saints to at least make the play offs. What about everyone else?
The poll is a bit different from the title question. I expect Saints to be top two, but I think our lowest position would be fourth.
Playoffs for me, I can't see us maintaining this current form for the entire season. The players are working the hardest they ever have in their careers - fatigue will feature at some stage, that's a given. It's a different situation this season - the last two years, we've started slowly and finished on a high. In the back of my mind, I fear it may be the other way around this time.
I see no reason why Saints cannot finish top! IMO this is the best Southampton team since the mid-80s when they finished runners-up!! I said at the beginning of the season to one or two guys at Fareham Delivery Office that they had no one to fear and ought to make the play-offs at a minimum. I've changed my mind!! Champions as Saints are the best footballing side in the division!!
I think it will be you and West Ham in the top two slots. However the thread said the lowest expected position, so I've voted playoffs as I think, even if you do have a lean spell, you wont fall out of the top six. As for us - I'd be happy to finish outside the bottom six

If we strengthen the central defence and maybe add a striker in January I see no reason why we can't keep up this incredible form right the way through. These are the fittest, best-prepared players in the Championship and, even if they don't run away with the title, they will be there or thereabouts right to the end.
I suppose if we finished outside the playoffs from here you would say we have had a poor second half of the season.
Why have four people said champions? *bangs head against wall* Be optimistic and strive for the best for sure, nothing wrong with that. But don't say that winning the league is the MINIMUM you expect for us this season.
I've said champions because the question is quite vague, and the answer I gave is the position I think we will finish. The minimum I expect now is 2nd. I'd be disappointed with playoffs after this start.

It must just be us oldies keeping our feet on a realistic floor. Although when I say "oldies", you are obviously at the higher end of that category compared to me
Fran, we could lose 4 in a row. We could slip. I think we'll maintain a higher performance than that, but it could happen.
