Great to see Mason involved. I hope he actually does things as he’s qualified to have a real role, as opposed to Ledley who was mostly there for work experience it seems. 3 fitness coaches?! Tanguy is going to love this
Mail are saying Conte chose to promote Mason after being impressed with how he lead training the last couple days
He walked into a City team with Stirling, Kompany, Silva, Aguero, Debruyne, Otimendi and Fernandinho. He then spent an enormous £193m in his first summer. With all those resources he managed to scrape 4th. We were accused of bottling the league that season while nothing was said about City not even challenging for it. Instead of facing criticism He simply went and spent a further £285m the following year. He clearly is not a failure as he has won 3 titles, 1 FA Cup and 5 League cups (9 trophies not 10...the charity shield is a glorified friendly) but he has spent close on ONE BILLION POUNDS to win them. Sorry but that amount in 5 years diminishes the achievement of winning trophies, especially when you inherited Kompany, Stirling, Ferdinando, Silva De Bruyne and Aguero (5 World class players and 1 highly rated international). He has however been a failure in Europe. He has managed 1 final which , after spending £1b is pretty poor. I love his style of football but that don't make him above criticism for me.
Mason will have seen, poch, maureen and now Conte to watch and learn from. Surely three very fine teachers.
Very clever move by Conte. I doubt whether he knows enough about Ryan to make a decision based on his coaching abilities, but he has the qualifications and is Spurs through and through, so will smooth the transition with the fans. (Not that many of us needed smoothing )
https://football-italia.net/conte-i-must-make-tottenham-a-top-team-for-a-top-club/ Some very quotable comments. “I am glad we won while suffering, I think this team needs to suffer a little to achieve victory, to understand you can win while suffering."
I think we also begin to see why Spurs built their stadium and training ground. It's doubtful whether Jose or Conte would have even considered coming to Tottenham without those facilities. It gives the lie to those who claim Levy does not invest. He clearly wants the team to move up a level and the infrastructure shows the outside world and the inside world of football just how ambitious Spurs are. To call it a vanity project in a game where performance is all important is laughable. If we are to compete with City, Chelsea and NUFC it will be because of the stadium. In a world dominated by money the Spurs way at least has some integrity. Everyone in football takes Spurs more seriously because of the stadium and it's also why they are quick to turn to ridicule when the team does not live up to it. The media that is happy to laud the faux success of Pep and his minted City is also slightly miffed that Spurs should have a better stadium. What right have they got to have that stadium they don't win trophies etc etc. **** 'em, I hope Levy and Conte succeed and make them cry into their beers.
Just wondering if anyone else has any further insight (especially as I don’t use instagram), but did even 1 of our players send a tweet/message out publicly to thank Nuno and wish him well? I haven’t seen anything anywhere.
I had a look earlier in the week and couldn’t see anything. Can’t say it was an exhaustive look but still. Speaks volumes IMO
