No idea if this will get any of you involved or not ? Having had another bereavement in the family - I think my time here getting closer and I consider a lot of you as mates - So I was just wondering if anyone in here has any thoughts on what comes next ? I used to be certain in my thoughts of what comes next but now I am not so sure ? I know I want science to prove there is a God because I think that would be beautiful that the two sides which have fought end up working together just a musing
Have to say I agree with this. Why would it be any different after you're dead to before you were born? I know many will disagree with this, but an afterlife seems to me to be wishful thinking rather than any evidence-based conclusion. Full marks for bringing up a controversial subject, Bumps. Sorry for your loss, as well.
Sorry for your loss mate. On this subject i like to think someones life lived and thier beliefs mould thier consciousness/soul/essence (whatever you wanna call it) to wherever they believe they want/deserve to go (heaven/hell) or maybe even of they come back and try again (reincarnation). Simply put, id like to think when i die ive lived a decent enough life to see the people who ive lost, if thats god choosing heaven for me or just my "soul" in a perpetual "dream" that im with those loved ones again i dont think it matters, i think its the same. But i like to believe that you're your own judge come the end. Summin like that
Nothing happens, you're dead. You might live on in people's memories, but that is all. The "magical" thing is that you were alive at all, with every other living thing this small planet, orbiting one of 200 hundred billion stars in our galaxy, in a universe made up of 400+billion galaxies. That and the fact that we're all made out of star dust!
Sorry for your loss mate. Wouldn’t it be nice to know that there was something on the ‘other side’? It would give comfort to everyone involved….therein lies the very reason why it even exists imo. personally, when I’m gone, if my kids, family and friends think of me and smile, then it would make me happy that I would have lived my life right, with the right priorities and with a smile on my face and a laugh in my belly. I can’t leave another type of legacy so that would do me.

I like this idea but what happens if you are someone who cannot see the good in yourself and you end up being perpetually tormented by your very own mind thanks for those that responded Like I say love reading different viewpoints I hope there is an afterlife but fear there is not
That would be purgatory i guess, but point is i dont think its "god" i think its up to you. Youre not meant to see the good in yourself anyway thats for others to see imo
There is no purgatory. That's a construct to make money of the relatives of the dead. Selling indulgences etc. The deeply cynical face of dark age religion.
Is purgatory the second chance?.When Jesus died he went Underground to preach to the spirits. Purgatory is a way of telling us that we can get away with all evils we did in our life time The teaching is not reasonable.
