Hi all, just thought I'd try something a little different... seeming we have the Music thread, I thought I'd give it a go for TV/Films with a slight difference!

This is more of what people are watching at the moment, what they'd recommend etc.

At the moment, I've just finished series 7 of the US Office. I really like Dexter, An Idiot Abroad (so funny) and the 2nd series of the Walking Dead starts tonight, which I'm looking forward to.

I've recently watched the first series of Being Human which I enjoyed, and differentand have just got the 2nd series. I have also just started Entourage (late starter) and have just got the first series of The Wire (heard such good things about it)

I must admit, beyond watching live football/sport in general, I don't seem to have much time for TV, so always seem behind on everything!

Oh, and as for movies.... I'm a bit of a sucker for the Marvel films, and have recently watched X-Men: First Class and Thor. Also saw Sucker Punch on my flight, and that was rather bizarre!

Among my favourite movies are (and it seems everyone's these days) are Shawshank Redmeption, Usual Suspects and really enjoy the Matrix.

Not TV or movie, but I've been having fun watching the Kiwi flash mob hakas on YouTube - they're brilliant.

This one in Sydney takes a little time to get going but is worth the watch - I feel for the poor, lone aboriginal guy responding with his clapping sticks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FenWoAak2is

And you've just reminded me - I have last night's episode of Hidden to watch. Thanks Kev!

i'm such a girlie when it comes to tv lol. I watch all the usuals..x factor, Strictly, though i am proud to say i've given up on BB lol. I was a huge 'Lost' fan and haven't found anything to replace it with, though i do love Dr Who and can't go a week without Waterloo Road with the two junior Hornettes. Ok, i admit it, i'm a tv saddo!

As for films, i rarely get the chance to go and see one. My fav of all time is Gallipoli, but there are too many wonderful films to mention.

Dr Who was great when David Tennent was the Dr. However, now with Matt Smith i have lost all interest. He has no personality and can hardly act. The Dr is meant to be eccentric and crazy, DT did this perfectly!

The Chase on Sky is good as well as Project Strike back but it is coming to the end of the series!

I am actually really enjoying the re-runs of Friends on Comedy Central

Aww I missed out NCIS. I really like that programme - although never really got into the LA version...

Also been getting into Big Bang Theory the last few months!

Anything Sci-fi for me when it comes to TV. Much to Mrs Sandy's disgust...."how can you take something seriously when they are green/blue/purple and have 2 heads/3heads or 1 eye/3 eyes" (delete as appropriate depending on which program I'm watching). <laugh>

Series 2 of Boardwalk Empire has started off brilliantly but I am struggling along with Series 2 of Treme...Law & Order CI is as good as ever, although I miss Bobby...

Check out The Lovely Bones when it is shown on Film4 again...great film. Other good films on TV at the moment:

    The American
The Town (well I think it's called that...)

I much prefer Coupling to Friends, as they only did a few series it never seemed as if it was becoming repetitive as the later series of Friends seems to be. Unfortunately, it never gets repeated.

N, they're going to film two more series of RD - the first starting next month. They're going to be on Dave.

I like Torchwood, although I think the first two series with the single story in each episode was a lot better. As the spin-off of Dr Who, it should've kept that format. As for Dr Who, as I'm only 5' 5" I dread to think where on my body Karen Gillan's legs come to! Dan, it makes it more interesting if you watch Confidental on BBC3 after each episode but I do agree with you about Matt Smith. Bizarrely, he's more as you want him to be as the Doctor when he's off set. I not sure why he doesn't bring more of his personality to the role.

H, I also like Strictly as unlike other shows it takes celebs out of their comfort zone and they're learning something new (unlike I'm a Celebrity which I think is just gross). I also liked the concept of Big Brother in the original series when it was a social experiment.

As for movies my favourites are the Back to the Future trilogy (I went to see the first one on my 12th birthday) and over here on Hallowe'en they're showing a digitally remastered Rocky Horror Picture Show and I'm going to see that.
