I always wonder how some people end up with so much money. There has to be more going on behind the scenes.
IF it's all true, then it sounds like the Allams have got a very nice deal, and yes, it sort of sticks in the throat. But, if it were to happen, it would be a win-win all round, £20mill (or likely less if later) would not really be that much in the scheme of things (PL promotion), and I'd rather we got promoted and paid the Allams (up to) £20mill rather than not get promoted. If the £30 + £20 mill is right, then it strikes me as hell of a lot for our club, even more so given the state we are in (as you allude to). But then on the other hand, I heard someone mention the other day that the reality is there are only 20 PL clubs, and then 24 Championship clubs in the World. So anyone who wants a go at owning a club in the big league realistically is chasing a fairly scarce resource (unless they have masses of patience to start with a rebuild of an even lower league club). Anyway, it is what it is. I just want it to happen asap.
I feel it’s fair to say that until( hopefully) the deal gets done that on the pitch nothing will change. Management just not good enough ( clearly) and players coached poorly or not good enough. Bring in league 1 players equals go down to league 1. Bring on the breathe of fresh air I can smell in the distance. Enough is enough. Terribly ran and poorly managed. We are overdue.
It's no different to the add-on clauses in player sales. You know, £10 mil now + 10% of whatever you sell him on for in 3 years time + £1 mil if he gets picked for England, etc. It's just a deal, which both parties appear to have agreed to.
How do we know that the Allams structured the deal this way? How about they wanted 40m and the buyers offered 30m plus 20m with PL promotion? If that’s the case I would say the buyers got the better deal.
It doesn't really matter does it? Whatever the deal both parties have got what they're prepared to accept.
Wealth can be accumulated in many different ways. Pretty sure plenty here are still living off land nicked and rented to serfs years ago. How Russia has so many multi millionaires after years of “all” been equal is laughable. Who know the truth behind the C Montgomery Burns of today.
Nothing illegal about it when it happened. Immoral possibly (the concept of morality alters through history), but not illegal.
Obviously Allam has lived locally for many years, but he is said to still have ties there as well as other north African countries.
It's great to see that the prospect of new owners is already starting to reduce the divisions between fans.
I know. Just puzzled as to why it would be agreed to. If I bought a company, say a marine generator one, and then, due to my investing money it and improving its performance, I wouldn’t agree to giving the previous owners a further bung of up to 66% of the purchase price.
