He just failed after getting us from a very difficult position to nearly saving us. I have heard a few ex-City players saying they learnt more from Silva than any other coach whilst at City, which says something.
Back in the Eighties, I had to go overseas urgently and drove down to Heathrow, arrive with very little time to spare for my flight so parked in the short term car park. Forgot all about it, I should have told someone to pick it up from there, until I was flying back 2 weeks later. Cost me £200 in parking fees, which the company weren't very pleased about.
Piece on us in the latest Price of Football pod, mostly what we already know. Did find it interesting with the comments around the payment structure and the suggestion there wouldn't be much in the way of funds available.
I'm not sure why a consortium would want to buy us if his aim was to just languish in and around Championship/ League one? And it's pretty obvious there has to be some major investment for that to not happen.
If The Allams have managed to get written into any prospective deal that the new owner would pay a further c£20m based on promotion back to The Premier League within a specified period, I hope the new buyer likewise has insisted on a reduction of the price if we get relegated, which is nailed on without a owner/head coach change within this year.
I quizzed my Turkish barber yesterday. Acun is a very good man. Has lots of money and loves his football. Feedback from a mate currently working in Turkey in journalism is that there are have always been questions about how he acquired his wealth so quickly, but no legal issues so far. A previous conversation suggested you can't get wealthy in Turkey without been dodgy
Makes sense. Same amount to be refunded (£20m) seems fair? Now I never ever thought I'd wish for City to go down, but ........
It'd be less Askew with revenues being much lower at Lge. 1 by comparison. But the principle should work both ways in any agreement in my view.
I don't think he knows much about what's going on and his comments sound like little more than guesswork based on what's been posted on the internet.
As we are in a position where relegation is a distinct possibility under the ownership of the Allams why should they get up to 66% of the purchase price as a bonus if the new owners turn things round and get us promoted?
Yeah was hard to tell if he was talking from a place of more authority or less, but figured it was worth sharing.
If the allams stand to make £20m on promotion to the premier league, then why why keep a losing manager. Surely action is needed now and chris wilder would be perfect.
Same question can apply to the Allam family wealth. Started out with £20 supposedly. Loads of failed businesses. One of which he was allowed to keep all the assets of while all the staff got nothing. A generator business that famously operates in contrast to widely adopted business principles in terms of stock but which apparently gets custom in desperate, disaster-addled communities when they need something as quickly as possible. Vast wealth of many millions. From a company with a handful of staff and 2 directors who infamously can't work with others. It's all a bit funny isn't it.
