It seems that JWP is the latest in the crosshairs of the snipers on SaintsWeb. I wrote this...

"It's only a few months since JWP was voted POTS but fans have a short memory. This season is not the first that he has started slowly (I believe he had a niggle in pre -season and a stomach problem) but he always gets better the more he plays. He is not a flashy player but he is a very important link up man in the middle and covers a lot of ground. That said, I don't think that his corners have been the best this season but his free kicks into the area have been his usual quality."

Why do you bother with Saintsweb? (Mind you, this is coming from the man who punishes himself looking at Facebook and Twitter, so I can’t talk!)

There are some decent posters over there about 50/50 positive/negative and even a few defectors from here and there are more discussions on there than here these days.
It's true that some of the negative ones go over the top sometimes though!

It always amazes me that Steve Grant, who owns SaintsWeb, appears to be a lucid, knowledgeable, and rational human being in his role as one of the Total Saints Podcast panel. It’s a shame he can’t insist on the same standards among the members of his forum.

Well, it’s obviously been better since you joined <hug>

You are correct though. It took me about 2 months or so before I got used to it, and I dont believe it is anywhere near as bad as the press it got on here. Maybe it used to be, I couldn’t tell you.

There are some very good threads, as there occasionally are on here, but in general, you get far better debate, backed up opinions, some very good detailed analysis of games. Dont get me wrong, there will always be a couple of idiots though. One thing the Mods do very well (and I’m certainly not criticising our Mod Brendy here), but something they do well, is when people do fall out, or the thread starts going off topic, the posts are very quickly moved into another area of the forum, and all posts removed and transferred there. It really helps keep things on track, and calm the situation down. I guess here, if you dont like fish or cheese related puns, you dont fit in :emoticon-0105-wink:

The main thing which I guess is good for me, is they don’t tend to carry over issues, they play the post and not the poster, which helps the debate (unless you are LiberalCommunist - you know what I mean, and I’m sure you’ll read this).

I also found Not606 very quiet, I guess a number of people have had enough, and the treatment of some people has been unreasonable/unfair, I mean is it much of a surprise that good posters like Loading, LincolnSaint barely post anymore (from what I can tell)?

Btw - what happened to @thereisonlyoneno7 - thought he was a rock, he is sorely missed on here.

I’ve had a look at saintsweb now and again, and didn’t find it awful. Mainly match threads. Anyway, yes, there are some missed posters for sure. Hope @thereisonlyoneno7 is ok.

At least this post wasn’t loaded much <laugh>

I think Lincoln doesn’t post much because he has a life to get on with, nothing to do with feeling put upon. In fact every time I’ve spoken to him privately, it hasn’t been an issue for him at all.

TIOON7 is fine, just has a lot of work on at the moment.

Oh, i dont know what you mean <laugh>

I’d still argue there were some truths in what I said, whether people like to read that or not. I’m still incredibly pissed off about a couple of comments I received on here that were not acceptable to me, and not moderated adequately, hence why I rarely post. I do still miss some of the posters, and stuff, but it isn’t very nice. And I do stand by my play the post not the poster piece.

Anyhow, didnt want to take the thread off track, nor advocate posters joining another forum - that is up to other people to decide, i do find it strange when people are negative about it without perhaps giving it time to see really how it is, as that appear in the least to me to be a sweeping statement made here that I personally haven’t found to be true. Like I said, i found it weird for a couple of months, I guess I felt like I was cheating on my partner :emoticon-0111-blush

I’m pleased Lincoln doesn’t take it so seriously, I guess my point is, that not everyone is like that.

Why do you think it has gone pretty quiet on here then? or do you think it is the same as always?

I think it's pretty much similar to how it was. The main miss for me in terms of debate and conversation has been Fats, but he didn't go because he stopped wanting to be here.

I get you have grievances, I think everyone knows you do. And I also apologise for my sweeping statement about SaintsWeb - I haven't been on there in an age, so it was probably wrong to say that, but it did used to be a hellhole. Hopefully it's improved.

Your grievances have been aired though on a number of occasions. I don't think they need to be wafted around the dryer many more times though!

For what it's worth, I don't like it when people play the poster not the post (and in fairness, I've been guilty of it in the past, but have hopefully learned my lesson). There is a tendency to think that people are being put upon because the majority disagree with their point. They aren't. It's just the majority disagree with their point.

Yeah good point about Fats, he is really missed and I get why he stopped posting.

Fair point about my grievances, I wouldn’t say it is all I posted about but yeah maybe time I stopped moaning about it. I guess the term ‘poop or get off the potty’ fits this situation

I agree with the first part of your final para btw in that people here are largely more positive, take Ralph for example. But occasionally coming from the other side of this to the majority, it becomes less of a debate rather a bit of a hounding. I expect you will disagree with this, but it comes across that way to me.

I recall raising the Ralph thing in maybe March this year, just asking how long people were prepared to give him, and that didn’t go down well, and I wasn’t even in the Ralph out camp. In fact, I said recently on here, I’d give him up to and including the Norwich game and a reflection needs to happen then.

It will be interesting if we only get 0 to 2 points in our next two games how people will feel about him, despite the last three games. Not sure how I will feel either, hopefully no different to now.

Me thinks some people take football far too seriously.

There are far more things to worry about than people being beastly to each other over a game of football.

Back to the footy, expecting (hoping) for an emphatic win. Both Armstrongs plus Adams to score please, does anyone know how Broja's injury is going?

Reference your last paragraph,if we play well then I will probably feel the same about him as I do now.
So the question for me is if we get 4-6 points how will those who seem desperate for him to fail feel about him?

I struggle to see how anyone here is desperate to see Ralph fail? We're all Saints fans here at the end of the day and although there are some who aren't convinced with Ralph I don't see them wanting Ralph to fail just so they are proved right.
