Dead, daft or trolls. I originally voted McCann in, as thought he deserved a chance with his first team line up. Didn't take long to change it though.
“ When fans chant sack the manager the board consider it. When the fans chant sack the board the board sack the manager immediately.” David Pleat
Can’t be arsed to change it, I thought he deserved the chance after last season, but he’s proving that the previous relegation was no fluke. Reading thread & comment after thread & comment saying he has to go got boring very quickly.
Watched the Luton v Middlesbrough game last night on sky, when Don Goodman blew McCann last possible excuse out off the water , after Luton beat Boro 3-1, "that was a fantastic result for Luton, and too think that there manager, Nathan Jones has put this team together on the lowest budget in the championship" see it can be done McCann (Luton are in the top 6).
Really doubt that's true. They signed Burke to sit on their bench while we insisted he was too expensive for our wage structure even as a regular starter.
Burke rejected a better contract at city and took a pay drop, to go to Luton he wanted to be back down south for personal reasons.
In fact it's nonsense. We had the option of an extra year on Burke's contract. We chose not to take it. McCann talked about us not being able to afford to take that option because his existing wage was too high.
The contract he was offered at city in terms of money was far better than than the one he signed for Luton for, it wasnt about money with Burke it was for personal reasons he wanted to be back down south , and as for what MaCann and the club said, if they told me it was wednesday today i check the calender first before believing them.
If there was a contract offer, it was for less than his previous deal which we had the option to extend. If he just wanted to go down south we could've taken up his extra year option and sold him for a reasonable fee. He left on a free because we chose not to renew him on his option year and if we did offer him something, he was never going to accept it on reduced terms, same as the other players we tried that with previously. I don't believe he's on less at Luton than he was offered here because that makes no sense with all of the above considered.
You don't have to believe it but it's true, he's on less then we offered. He moved back down south for personal reasons. The extra year we had, if we had activated it would have made him the best paid player by some distance and it just wasn't ever going to happen. His ( as far as I'm aware ) was the last of the contracts that where agreed when we had the parachute payments etc.
Him and Long probably would have been yeah. Both signed summer 2018 and I'm sure it's not a coincidence that we let both go this summer. That policy of gradually paying lower wages every year, and letting everyone go on a free is how we got to this point with no assets and no income. Essentially managed, deliberate decline. If Burke just wanted to go down south then why on earth wouldn't we just take his option and then sell him for a small fee. He wasn't worthless.
