If I was going to use Wells, I think I would drop into right midfield.... We also need to give Massengo a free role in the middle, with maybe Martin or Weimann covering/switching in the middle when needed. Pring on the left, Scott & James, with Wells out on the right.. 3 at the back with Atkinson, Kalas & Tanner.. What do you think? I don't see what Bakinson as yet brings to the table....rabbit caught in the headlights for me.
I wouldn't give Wells a start unless we are desperate. He was so poor again on Saturday, skied a 'strikers' chance almost into the car park, there were at least 2 other players better placed, IMHO he offers nothing. Early in the 2nd half on Saturday Weimann did a great job closing their keeper and full back down and almost forced a mistake, Wells was just stood looking with usual hang dog expression, Weimann went mental with him, suggesting that instead of watching a little bit of help might have paid dividends. Drop him into right midfield? god help us, he is lazy enough upfront god knows what he would give us in midfield. I would still love to see hit a hot streak in front of goal of course I would, but that dream died long ago and Saturday was another shocker IMHO. I agree about Bakinson, has gone backwards too slow and casual. PS:- A huge shout out to the fans who have been and certainly were on Saturday different class for the final 15 minutes, sometimes the players have not deserved the sort of support they have had this season.
If he is found out to be lazy in midfield, it would become blatantly obvious, where as up front you get away with it....I'd give him a go personally while he's still here. Yes that was a sitter that he skied, I mentioned it at the time, but he can still, on the occasions finish.. He does have something about him, just not worked out what it is yet!!.................our 20 goal a season striker, he is not!! Yes, crowd were immense last 15.......seemed out of desperation for that long awaited home win!!
A striker can get away with it when he is scoring, Wells has scored 1 all season. He has never been a 20 (league) goals a season striker ever. 'On occasions' sadly describes too many of our squad, on occasions ODowda has a match winning game, on occasions DaSilva looks quality as a wing back, on occasions Bakinson looks like a midfielder that could be the missing link in our midfield and occasionally Palmer looks like he could be the provider we need. Occasionally but never consistently.
So where would this mysterious free striker actually come from? or perhaps the 300k paid for Tanner would be enough to sign this striker or should he not have bought Atkinson and signed a striker?
That is hilarious, rose tinted glasses have been the order of the day for the past 4 years. Like your assessment of players already released and some still here.
It sort of looks as though you have started your personal jihad to try to make your point about saint Lee. And you are wrong, most on here (especially those of us who watch games) knew that mid table with this squad was going to be about where we would expect to be and that is exactly where we are, 10 points off of the relegation places and 5 points off of the top six. Is it great? of course not but we are where we are and the squad is what it is still too many unreliable players.
I wonder sometimes whether English is your first language, exactly where have I said that? I am saying that we still have far too many passengers in our squad, passengers who have been passengers pretty much since they arrived, LJ couldn't get them playing consistently and neither have Holden or Pearson, perhaps they are 'inconsistent'? but you seem to think that they are good players, good players are consistent.
Not just the players, the manager has to take some of the blame IMO.. Team selections, Tactics, formation, subs....not been all good either.
Of course FFS, that's obvious, but to defend your position you still defend players who were crap under LJ and continue to be crap.
Swapped and changed no end....how would we expect consistency in players when it doesn't come from the man in charge?.....
Very rarely were we in the bottom half.....not that crap.....the idea to change LJ was to progress upwards.....so far this has not been achieved
So the players who were crap for and swapped and changed by LJ and Holden had nothing to do with the man in charge?
According to you, we got rid of most of the dross, yet we've hardly improved.... Even you moan constantly when Weimann is being played out of position....and that is down to NP.......so can't just blame our poor form on the players
Yep......sacked the manager that progressed us from SC, for progress..........and it's been pretty much down hill since.. But we are where we are, NP needs to get the most from what we have....I believe he's struggling.....with his tactics....but that's my opinion
For the record I am far from happy with the performances, individual mistakes, some of the selections, some of the substitutions and some of the tactics. You really don't read posts do you? So I will make it easy for you. For the record I am far from happy with the performances, individual mistakes, some of the selections, some of the substitutions and some of the tactics. Yes most of the dross have gone and only one is enjoying a purple patch (and good luck to him) the rest are struggling in lower divisions. And we still have quite few that have been poor signings. Yes I have moaned about Weimann being played out of position, Pearson didn't sign Williams so cannot be blamed for his fitness problems, but he is a huge miss that's for sure and the other midfield options are Bakinson who you don't rate or Scott who is not fully fit or of course your idea of playing Wells in midfield.
