He was pretty much our first choice centre back at newcastle and enjoyed a hero status similar to cheik tiote until he inexplicably demanded out pretty much as soon as we dropped. plenty players do it but it always leaves a sour taste in the mouth. we plucked him from obscurity and made him a star and he dumped us quicker than you can say relegation.

He's now complaining about not getting pitch time off harry and you have to say you need to be careful what you wish for. he would likely have still been first choice at our place.

what do spurs fans make of him and can the newcastle lads wipe the smirks off their faces when they see him moaning?

Think he will go to QPR. Overrated player - just looked good for us in a **** team, was at fault for a number of goals for us despite the Player of the Season award

i never thought he was over rated when he was with us. QPR really are throwing money at every over rated player going. anton ferdinand for ****s sake, do me a favour.

He has some good games, I give him that - but never thought he was that good. We got £8m-£10m for him from Spurs which was a really good deal imo as we only paid £100k I think

He was going to sign for them on the last day of the window, but Spurs didn't get Cahill so he had to stay and I remember the price was something really low like £2m

    £2 million?

I'd have him back for that price.

But he wants to be away because of lack of game time and he wouldn't get above Tayls or Colo imo

you'd have to say £2m is a very good price for him IMO. if he hadn't dumped us so readily i'd have said get him resigned for that kind of moola.

Be good backup, but he isn't happy being back up at Spurs so doubt he would be keen to be backup for us lol

Beye is another one, he'd probs still be first choice for us had he stuck with us but he's ended up warming the bench at villa pretty much for the entire time he's been there. i'd be curious to see how many appearances he's actually had for them?

Bassong is, in effect, our fifth-choice centre back - although given the injury history of Ledders that technically makes him fourth-choice - so on one hand he is likely to get frustrated at the lack of games, especially when you consider that we've signed Kaboul and Gallas, and attempted to sign Cahill, in the time he's been at the club to limit his opportunities.

On the one hand it's a widely repeated fact that his partnership with Dawson was the partnership that clinched us Champion's league qualification, yet he's slipped down the pecking order since. On the other he's one of the players in our squad that fans are quick to point out any errors he makes, which is hardly good for his confidence - but probably better for his confidence than being publicly touted as a makeweight in the deal to sign Gary Cahill in August.

Playing him in the Europa league games is probably going to get him match fit, and with King, Dawson and Gallas all out he needs to be sharp as we need to have him at the back right now, but one thing always perplexed me - he's played left back in the past, yet is never utilised in that position when BAE is injured or suspended, instead we prefer to play various right wingers from our youth team there.

its true that he is left footed but you can tell when you stick him left back that he is a defender first and foremost. he doesn't go rampaging forward which is the style harry obviously champions.
