Well, this is it. Are we as a World going to fudge, yet again, the single most important issue around today or are we, as a World, actually going to realise how imortant it is that we do something now. I don't believe it is going over the top to say that what we do today and in the next 5 years will affect generations to come and their quality, or lack of it, of life. please log in to view this image The World is heating up and that ultimately will mean death to mankind. please log in to view this image It will come as no surprise as to the identity of the worst/biggest polluters but we all need to do something about it but China and the USA more than most. CO2 emissions by country - in tonnes, 2019 China - 10,175m - 7.1 per capita USA - 5,285m - 16.1 per capita India - 2,616m - 1.9 per capita Russia - 1,678m - 11.5 per capita Japan - 1,107m - 8.7 per capita Iran - 780m - 9.5 per capita Germany - 702m - 8.4 per capita Indonesia - 618m - 2.3 per capita South Korea - 611m - 11.9 per capita Saudi Arabia - 582m - 17.0 per capita Will self short term interest succeed or will COP 26 actually achieve something unlike the G20 Meeting in Rome where gestures and platitudes prevailed? Do any of you think there is no real problem or is everyone already convinced we have a seious issue but the politicians are too scared to do something drastic as that could impact upon them short term?
I haven't really looked in to it but David Bellamy thinks it's all a crock of ****. He is saying that global warming goes in cycles and yes we may have accelerated the cycle there is nothing we can do to stop it.
It does go in cycles and we have accelerated it significantly. If we have accelerated it, which we have, then we should be doing everything we can to reverse "our" impact which again the scientists in the World believe we can make a difference but that we need to be doing it now before it is too late. David Bellamy has apparently "history" for making incorrect claims in regard to climate change.
Like I said I've not read up on the topic but unless China and the USA get on board then there's **** all the rest of us can do.
I don't think that the biggest polluters will do nearly enough to halt it, never mind reverse any of it. We need co2 to start coming down, and unless the human population falls there's little chance of that. Planet earth is doomed I'm afraid, but not in our lifetime. I save a bit of co2 thanks to solar panels but still I fancy upgrading my 3litre diesel to a BMW M4 - don't tell Greta.
I dunno why everyone is so bothered about the Earth. I mean it's going to end one day. We're all on a hiding to nothing.
I might take it more seriously if they did the meeting via Zoom rather than taking private jets to the conference. It seems like theater. Plus, that chart goes back +/- 180 years. Not enough data for the billions of years the earth has been here. It's like looking at 1 game out of 38 and making a prediction on who will win the league.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8618654/ Watch this. Makes you wonder why all agriculture around the world isn't done this way. Take a look at the increase in co2 when fields are ploughed. No till farming is the way forward but never gets a mention on the news as a solution to the problem. Could it be to do money that the chemicals industry will lose?
China is the source of more CO2 emissions than any other country - by some distance. In 2019 it emitted 11,535 megatonnes of carbon dioxide, more than double the figure for the US and more than four times the amount produced by any other individual nation. And only the US has been responsible for more CO2 emissions than China in history.
****ing hell next we will getting getting grief from The football world because our owners are not only chopping heads off but are literally burning the atmosphere. Having said that maybe it’s because they literally have money to burn.
Maybe I should be patient for this event to happen. I mean your right it will. But will it be before we get a new manager or not. This is a joke BTW before anyone jumps down my throat or decided I’m moaning.
Ok I’ve had a bit of a joke in my last two messages so now for some really ****. @Darren Peacock's Ponytail is correct China and America are the ones who make this work or not in reality. The ratio you stated above per person is a damning statistic but when you factor in population then it maybe is irrelevant. When you look at the graph you posted it does look like America is pulling its weight but I am surprised at Australia given they have the sun which could generate the energy they need. It makes me wonder how on Earth they are the highest polluters when they don’t have a large population?
