Well good luck to them. I thought he could have been ok for us if Ole left but he would have come with many negatives. Funny that whoever had lost on Sunday would have gone for him. His CV is impeccable but the tensions with the executive and owners would have been huge never mind with the players he fall out or unhappy with.

There are many players that are unhappy right now, Christian. Let’s not kid ourselves. We have over £120m worth of new players that are not getting games. They must be ecstatic!

Regardless, Conte would have been day and night upgrade from Ole. It may not be five year stint, but we would have been in better position for it as a team.

I'm not really fussed about Conte.

Look at it this way, if he was currently managing a club, and United were looking for a new manager, would he be your first choice? Would he even be in your top 5?

Not for me. So in the end, it would've been about him being available, not about being the best, most suited man for the job.

i think the club needs to do research and be proactive rather than reactive. Finding out the best person (whether employed or unemployed) for the club should they decide to dispense of Ole.

He would still be at Inter and perhaps leading the chase for another league title. Why wouldn't he be an option? Sure, he has temperament. But people are too quick to pit him into the Mourinho corner which is rather unfair.

I've expressed it before. Something about him doesn't fit the club. Prior to us hiring Jose that didn't matter to me, but after LVG and then Jose, it does matter. I think it would be another mistake signing.

We have to get the next permanent manager right.

He'd have been a decent fill in, if they were to go ahead and sack Ole.

Fairly significant that he's only getting an 18 month contract at Spurs, he would have been the same with us.

Fills in while they find the actual long term manager.

But he's never our long term manager, no.

I do not disagree with you, especially for long term replacement. I think someone like that Ajax manager would be a great appointment. Someone that has keen attention to details, is hands on, and tactically astute. But most importantly, with good temperament for longer term cross functional relationship management across the club. I guess that is where Conte fails.

I'm really not sure how effective he'll be with that Spurs squad. They definitely need a number 10 to make their front two click. So he may make them defensively tighter but going forward still struggling for goals.

I wouldn't be surprised if spurs fans are unhappy with his style of football and the results in a few months time.

I still can't believe Ole survived that Liverpool game. I find that absolutely hilarious! Even the look on his face after that game, I am sure that he thought he was a dead man. Fast forward, my man is now talking in the press again feeling bold after that Tottenham result and asking for more criticisms.

Heck, not even @glazerfodder survived that Liverpool game. lol

The executive must have told him that if we win against Spurs he’s secure. I knew that if he wasn’t sacked in the first 24-48 hrs, he won’t be. At least for now. That shows where the priority of the board and owners lie. They are concerned about revenue from the CL and other severe financial penalty clauses from sponsorship contracts should we miss top 4. I’ve said here many times (not that I approve of that stance) that the owners liked Ole and will not sack him unless a CL place was at risk. Even if we lose against city he won’t be threatened.

You're probably right. Doesn't bode well though.

There is a slim chance that they're trying to line someone up and won't sack him before then but I'm not s9 sure. Looking at how quickly Spurs have lined up Conte, knowing our lazy arsed Board, they would've lined him up just as quickly.

I still think Ole's sitting on a fulcrum where the plank can swing either way in a short space of time. A couple of positive results and he's safe, a couple of bad results and he's out.

Surely they have sounded out his replacement.

    That's just due diligence.

Although I suspect it's down to two candidates if they pull the plug mid or at the end of the season.

    Rodgers and Poch.

    I'd like to think so.

I just would've thought Conte would've been one of them? It just seems so obvious. Maybe not. Maybe they've got someone else in mind.

You think Rodgers would make the cut? It's astounding how many opportunities we had to get Poch but refused. I can only imagine where we would had Poch started the season with this current squad.

I don’t rate Rodgers. Yes he is doing a reasonable job with Leicester but Leicester aren’t United. I can see some fans and other club staff not taking too kindly to an ex-RS manager. But his CV isn’t that great at the RS either. What did he win there? He won in Scotland in a one horse race and at Leicester an FA cup. He’ll be under pressure after the first setback.

    Indeed, and I agree.

    He's definitely a candidate though.

As for Poch, he couldn't win the league with PSG last year so that doesn't exactly fill me with glee.

Maybe be best bet would be ten Hag, but the other two have the huge advantage advantage of premier league experience and loads of it.

As for Rodgers, you know he'd walk out on Leicester in a blink so he'd be even more of a mid season candidate.
