I hope the new manager is ruthless and doesn’t waste time trying to get players to come good like it seems Spurs are permanently doing with expensive flops like Lo Celso & Ndombele or with players like Winks, Dele and Bergwijn.

The game moves on quickly and can’t afford to carry passengers or rotten apples.

If a player is been at the club for nearly 3 years under multiple managers and still not consistently hit form then surely it’s logical to move them on and get someone else in rather than holding on to them just because you don’t want to take a loss with transfer fees.

I hope that if (and its still a big if) it is Conte, that one of his conditions is that he will be able to get rid of these players for whatever fee we can get and take the losses that we will certainly incur.

I can see Ben Davies being a key player for Conte .
Naturally left sided, reliable, uncomplicated and much better as a CB in a three than at LB.

Rodon can cover him , Romero / Dier in the middle and Tanganga/ Sanchez on the right.

Our squad is so much better suited to a 3421 / 343.

Somebody has just woken from a very vivid dream

"I hope Levy has the common sense to bring back Jose now. At least there was progress under him."

Sky in Italy reporting Spurs have only offered Conte an 18-month contract. Seems quite non-committal.

I wonder if both Spurs and Conte are thinking 'let's see how this goes' before any big guarantees take place.

    Interesting if true.

I'd imagine we'll almost certainly sign a new CB in January or the summer though, none of those apart from Romero are upper tier defenders and Conte will want at least two out of his back three to be of such.

let’s see how it goes perspectives:

Levy : ‘let’s see how long before he realises that I’m not backing him lol…I’m so good’

Conte: ‘let’s see how long before that bald twat goes back on his words’

I think Conte would walk the second he felt like he wasn’t being backed by the club.

I read somewhere it is 18 months with a trigger clause inserted for an extension should all parties want to.

There are suggestions of an achievement based automatic extension clause. It's not ideal, by any means, but Levy's in a ****ing deep hole with the majority of the fan base. It's by far the worst situation that he's faced in 2 decades. Right now, he needs Conte like he needs oxygen,

Pissing about with Paratici or Gatusso is going to see him getting his P45. He needs to deliver someone who will stop the 'Levy Out' calls before they can't be stopped. Next summer, when Conte wants to spend £200m, is a long way away. In the interim, he'll work on Conte, trying to get him to accept less than he needs or wants. It's what Levy does.

First, stop the angry mob...and then come up with a plan how to appease Conte enough to keep him. Job done...

I think our wonky squad's going to test anyone who takes it.
He's an experienced manager with a good record who's proven himself in England, though.
It's a bit Mourinho-ish, yet Conte's been more successful recently.

We didn't have the players to play the way that Espirito Santo preferred at Wolves.
Time will tell if they'll suit anyone who follows in his footsteps.

If the squad stays the same then we need a midfield fix so really one creative midfielder could change everything.
Whoever becomes our next manager will be happier to follow Nuno than they would have been to follow Jose.

Since we last looked at Conte our defence has potentially improved and our level is lower.

Plus Kane gets back to his former self OR we will sell him either way it's a win win.

How many ****ing £millions have the club just pissed up the wall, opting for a 7th choice coach who even DL must have realised was a bad fit?
It seemed likely that at least one or two of the top targets would be available by Xmas...so - particularly with the Kane clusterfuck going on - why the **** didn't they just let Mason carry on through the summer/ Autumn?
Whether Conte - if he accepts the challenge - is up to turning this ship around, is an entirely different matter...
I'm not holding my breath <doh>
