It depends on Klopp and Pep IMO. They are better managers than Conte and if they stick around it will be tough for him to compete in the league but I agree he will definitely improve THFC.

Most annoying thing is we could've had him in the summer. We initially baulked at his demands thinking he was too expensive only to then hire and fire a guy within four months and go grovelling back to him having just wasted around £3m-£4m paying off Nuno. He could've had a pre-season to work on tactics, disposed with certain players and worked with Paratici on signings, some may or may not have been different.

Should it go through though I'll have some optimism back. I had next to nothing with Nuno, nothing against him personally but just a very basic manager with zero track record. With Conte, I'm still expecting some absolute dross this season due to some of the players we have but I know we've got one of the best managers in the world still in his pomp who, with the right backing, WILL get results in time.

Conte working under ENIC and Levy would be an exciting watch, but will likely last 5 minutes, with the way Levy works, Conte would eventually get peed off and either walk or make it impossible not to sack him. ENIC won`t be changing, so I can`t see Conte working long term.

Had to happen, was clear he wasn’t the right man for the job and was out of his depth.

I feel a little sorry for him though, he won’t get a bigger job than that and didn’t really give it a proper go. Unlike Mourinho and some other ex managers, I wish him all the best as he seems a decent bloke albeit boring and limited as a manager.

Wishing for Conte but expecting Mason

I dont think Nuno was given a chance really - managers need time.
I think your Club just has a culture of sacking.

Conte is a good manager mind you.

But look at this.. its pretty ridiculous. Since 1992 (start of the EPL)

    Nuno Espirito Santo
    Ryan Mason
    Jose Mourinho
    Mauricio Pochettino
    Tim Sherwood
    Andre Villas-Boas
    Harry Redknapp
    Juande Ramos
    Clive Allen
    Martin Jol
    Jacques Santini
    David Pleat
    Glenn Hoddle
    David Pleat
    George Graham
    Chris Hughton
    David Pleat
    Christian Gross
    Gerry Francis
    Steve Perryman
    Ossie Ardiles
    Doug Livermore

    Compared to say Arsenal..

    Mikel Arteta
    Fredrik Ljungberg
    Unai Emery
    Arsene Wenger
    Bruce Rioch
    Stewart Houston
    George Graham

Along with the obvious candidates like Dele, Winks, Doherty etc, I think players like Lucas, Bergwijn and unfortunately Gil could be at risk with Conte's appointment. He generally favours a 352 so wingers/ wide-forwards are pretty much not required. Son will partner Kane and the width would then come from Reguilon and Emerson. Lucas and Gil can play centrally in an attacking midfield role but I doubt Conte would even use that either.

Assuming he does get appointed and got a couple additions in January, we'd look something like:
    Hugo
    Romero, Dier, CB
Emerson, Hojbjerg, Skipp, creative mid, Reguilon
    Son, Kane

Despite our main problem being ENIC and Levy, there were no signs of improvement under Nuno, not even green shoots, in fact we were getting slowly worse. I am all for giving managers time if there is some sign of improvement and an identity being built, but this was clearly not the case under Nuno, he had to go.

Conte's going to have to buy a couple of midfielders, a left sided centre back, probably a left wing back and a striker (2 if Kane leaves). He's going to have to be creative in some positions...if he comes.

Bergwijn could be the new Victor Moses, converted into a very effective wing back. It would minimise the effect of his poor finishing and ensure that we don't need to play Doherty or buy a back up for Emerson Royale.

Sky in Italy reckon it’s done. He’s agreed the contract and will begin his tenure when he arrives today.

Sounds like an initial 18 month deal but will almost certainly be extended.

Your list a little disingenuous as it includes a significant number of caretakers who were never going to be given the job and therefore were always going to be short-term, Clive Allen was 1 match!!

If you take out Wenger and Graham who were successful managers the average tenure of the others would be similar to the permanent managers at Spurs.

I don’t hold much hope for Bergwijn to be honest. He can’t tackle to save his life, rarely crosses and I just don’t see him being as adaptable as Moses.

I think we could see two, maybe three arrive in Jan and that’ll be a CB, creative mid and a ST to compete with Son and Kane.

To be honest if you compare trophies in that period it would be perverse if we did have less turnover. You'd argue that Arsenal held on too long to Wenger, if he'd been replaced several years earlier they might be in a better place and he wouldn't have sullied his reputation.
