So despite earlier reports saying Conte didn’t fancy us today, some journos are now saying we’re trying to get him.

Gianluigi Longari is one of them and he was one of the first to break the Romero deal.

It’s the hope that kills you.

I’d absolutely love Conte as manager, he’s ruthless and brutal and would give that lacklustre squad the arse kicking most of them need.

He’s gonna want a fat pay cheque and a fat kitty though, so it’s either a last ditch power move from Levy and Paratici after realising how far up **** creek Levy is with the fans or it’s a smokescreen to try and make fans think “we tried” to get him.

I’m 100% certain Conte won’t join us if he’s not got huge assurances and power to make big calls. That’s even assuming he’s remotely interested.

Not trying to be pedantic but him not being interested and you "trying" to get him are kind of opposite things and unrelated if seen from either side <laugh>

How many times has Levy said "we tried" :bandit:

That’s the thing, right now what top manager would be interested unless they’ve got a big incentive and huge backing?

It’s either a huge power play or a ploy as you say to pretend they tried. I don’t think Levy can afford to do the latter to be honest.

Alfredo Pedula is saying Conte could be in London tomorrow IF he accepts our offer.

Frankly, bringing in somebody who isn't a Mendes client would be a good start

...what do you mean his brother's his agent?

Yeah I can’t see it happening as it would go against everything we know about Levy. Conte would want money and control.

More likely it will be another middle of the road manager who isn’t qualified to do the job (getting Spurs back into the top 4)

I suppose one thing that works in our favour is Paratici. They’ve worked together before and seemingly had a good relationship.

But it really is all about how much Daniel’s willing to let go financially. I don’t know what our situation is like now that fans are back and the stadium’s had a couple events with more to come so IF there is money then it’s a no brainer to hire Conte and give him what he wants.

There will be a serious cull of the squad should Conte be the new manager. Levy needs to allow this without scrutinising the profit and loss figures.

Di Marzio, Romano and pretty much every significant Italian journo now jumping on the Conte bandwagon.

Many reporting that Nuno is sitting twiddling his thumbs waiting to see if we can reach an agreement and if we do - he's gone.

Bit of a shocking way to treat someone but then again Levy has previous and worse with his treatment of BMJ and Poch.

perhaps Nuno could end up being the best thing that ever happened to us? - Turned more and more fans against levy to the point where he had to change his approach and bring in someone of Conte’s calibre? <ok>

it’s the hope that kills you.

“we are delighted to announce the signing of Steve Bruce as head coach on a 10 year deal”. <laugh>

Wonder if he does definitely know or is just going off reports?

He also replied to another saying he wants Poch.

Whatever the outcome now, there is no going back. If we don't pull the plug now it's simply because no replacements are currently available, not due to a belief that Nuno can turn things around. If the board believed that, they'd have issued a statement of support, not spent 36 hours debating his ability.

It becomes a matter of when, not if. He becomes a lame duck just waiting for the inevitable. I expect results to totally nosedive as whatever credibility he had is shredded. And yet reports suggest that the board only started discussing his future after the Utd game because they were 'taken by surprise' at the fans' reaction. Heads buried in the sand.

Levy has made a pig's ear out of the whole thing and in any other industry, he'd have the courtesy to help Nuno pack up his family photos and then follow him out the door.

THFC is a football club…this guy has turned it into something else before it is a football club.

Hopefully the home fans ramp it up…I couldn’t really care about the team and the negative affects a bad atmosphere may have. I really hope our home games have a ****ing nasty atmosphere for the hierarchy to get a taste…ignorant twat.

I'm pretty sure that's just Levy covering his arse. His football knowledge is limited, but even he will have noticed that we've been ****ing dreadful under Nuno and whatever passes for our PR Dept. will have been briefing that his punters are going to blow, if nothing changes. There have been rumours that Nuno's future's been a topic of discussion since the Arsenal debacle...and rightly so, if that rumour's correct.

The big question is whether there's a long term plan to turn this mess around...or whether we're going to continue making ridiculous short term decisions, like appointing a big ticket manager mid-season, whilst planning to give him **** all by way of a budget, come next summer?

I'm struggling to believe that Levy and Conte will happen...but Daniel knows that a sufficient number of our fans rightly blame him for this mess...not ParaticI, HIM. He's gotten away with some terrible appointments up 'til now...no more. If he ****s this up and delivers a managerial non-entity from Mendes' stable, he and ENIC are in real trouble.

Unless Levy has suddenly found £250m down the back of his sofa, there is no way Conte will be coming to Spurs. I would not be surprised if these rumours are just another lame attempt at appeasing the fans by trying to show more faux ambition, like in the summer when we were linked with top managers around season ticket renewal time.
