we do have a couple of injured home grown to add to the pot! A NUMBER of the targets [ who signed elsewhere ]of the past couple of years [ big money £10m+ are / have not lived up to expectations [ although faring slightly better than Nahki [ unfortunately ] .......... to be honest we managed to get 2 goals on the board = they need 3 in total to beat us, figures of the match stats show basic info... doesnt define how good / deadly or bad the action was ! [ on target is unless went in or was stopped from being a goal ] shot is "undefined" [ never been able to work that one out ] but maybe within a couple of metres of going in / corner/ goal kick ???? I do not think January would be a time to buy in? Unless NP is a bit hypo critical ! we have to honest with the win .... fantastic to break the losing run /lack of home win... but a poor result and near capitulation at the end, luck was on our side in the last few minutes. Between 35-45 mins we had our best period 4 shots 3 on target and a corner with 2 goals ... after about 60 mins they really took control, and our often maligned defence managed to hold on WE NEED TO PlAY MORE THAN 10 - 15mins of good attacking football.
Defending from the front, high pressing is what’s needed at home IMO. When we sit back, we are easily sliced open, we aren’t able to close down or track quick enough. Massengo was stand out again for me yesterday, the amount of times he breaks up play or gets a foot in is quite remarkable. He is guilty of giving the ball away on the odd occasion and his shooting needs vast improvement but overall a gem in the making..
Does loads of work thought he played well yesterday. But goals are what strikers need to score. As for Wells two blatantly good goal chances wasted.
So two of Niges signing were in the championship team of the day. Both quality as is Tanner. SL give the big man so more signings in January
Sorry, he openly stated he wouldn’t sign anyone who didn’t improve the squad. So he clearly felt other areas needed improvement ahead of the forward line. Pretty much every City fan knew we needed a striker over 2 more RBs, but NP didn’t see it that way, so we are where we are. People can’t keep defending the low budget, NP knew the budget and he prioritised what he wanted.
What is your point? To me, the fact we have 2 defenders in the team of the week when we were at home to a team in the bottom 3 who have lost 5 on the bounce before they played us, tells us we have big problems, not something to be shouting from the rafters about.
Rose tinted glasses seems to be the recipe of the day!! Let’s hope it’s not another 18 games before our next home win..
Absolute tripe, as usual. Our full backs RB and LB needed replacements. Tanner and Pring are an improvement. It will take time. Our strikers might not be the best but the service was is the problem. It's going to take the same numbers of transfer windows, as Demi Lovato had, to put matters right.
Who is arguing? you are correct, I highlighted we all knew he wanted a striker and we did, the fact we ran out of finance because of Covid and high contractual costs meant there was no finance to fund one and he told us as you said. It was a case of make do with what you've got and he accepted that as he states in the link below, he had to cut wage costs, get rid of the holiday makers, blood as many academy prospects as possible and look out for 3rd or 4th level economical prospects that had slipped under the radar, sort out the internal problems of medical, fitness and coaching staff and maintain our status at Championship level, all of which he has achieved, so far to date. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/we-cant-afford-20-goal-5733526
So the same as every other club in every division below the PL. The way you RR, And RP talk is as if we are the only ones in this position, we aren’t, so stop using it as an excuse for poor managerial performance. Its crystal clear it galls all 3 of you that we are no further on since LJ left, which means you personal vendetta against him was as pointless as most of us on here knew.
Who is arguing? you are correct he told us as you said. 3 statements from the first paragraph I agreed with you, the link I gave confirmed your points, I have not mentioned LJ and in fact I avoid it because our members are pissed off with it all.
I agree fully with this, we leave nobody on the halfway line defending corners and free kicks, even when Barnsley sent their keeper up. For me if Williams is not going to be fit, then we need a solution and that ain't Bakinson and neither is playing Weimann in midfield long term, pushed back into midfield to accommodate Wells upfront, Weimann is far more of a threat than Wells and weakens an already overloaded midfield, Wells once more proved he is not good/consistent enough, the 10 minutes where Weimann played up front for his goals more than proved that. I still believe that Wells, Bakinson, ODowda, Palmer and maybe even DaSilva are not consistent enough and maybe either need to shape up or ship out, all of them are unreliable, Wells, ODowda and Palmer have never been consistent, Bakinson needs a rocket up his arse he is far to languid and casual, it's a pity about DaSilva but he is not playing as well as he should. Three things have hampered our season IMHO, individual errors, Williams continued fitness problems and not signing Smith from Rotherham, top scorer in league 1 with 12 from 14 games.
