Just pointing out you said you’re a realist as you’re pessimistic then you post an optimistic post. Surely you see that’s contradictory? My issue with your original realist post is one thing only, I don’t mind pessimism. I do mind people thinking they’re realistic because they’re pessimistic. It’s no more realist if than me being optimistic in reality

Lost 3 and won 7 in last 10.

What’s this ‘dip in form’ we talking about.

Some days it just goes against you. They were fa pyrites for a reason, little between the team and they were home. We had a stinker, they capitalised.

We’ve hardly fell apart. I do agree we need something extra CB though.

We need a big strong athletic CM that can dominate games. We can't rely on Evans because he's clearly going to be in and out with injuries all season. 09 has been found out against better players and he just resorts to chopping opponents down and his distribution with the ball has been average, at best. I'd like us to try Alves in that holding role for a couple games to see how he gets on.

I wonder, has O'Nien suddenly turned into a **** player and decided to start going around kicking people, or is the team not set up defensively enough and he has to try and do too much himself and can't get into the game as a result.

When you're under the cosh you need more than one midfielder capable of defending, imo. It was a very attacking side we played today and we paid the price at the back.

i actually think he stood out in previous seasons because the rest of our squad was so ****, now we've got some better players around him, he's looking very ordinary. I said last week he should be rested for a couple of games, he needs to get himself sorted, running around like a headless chicken doesn't do it , we have better players so he should be dropped.

As a bloke, I love him. His passion for Sunderland and the rapport he has with the fans has put him as a bit of an idol. I personally think that has blinkered some of our support when judging him, now. He runs around a lot and clearly loves the club but what does he actually offer on the pitch? I agree with what Porterfield has just said, he's now playing in a much better team and you can see he isn't of the same standard as the players around him. He doesn't move with the pace of the game and that catches him out of position which leads to his constant fouling, imo.

He's many things, but he's not a central midfielder. Not in this team anyway.

That's 2 absolute ****ing hidings in the last month. I can write 1 off but not 2. This aint the prem it's not like we are playing City Liverpool and Chelsea where big defeats may be expected.

We are weak as piss defensively we cant cope with any form of physicality be it pace or strength. Is it the centre backs? Is it the full backs? Is it a lack of protection from midfield? Or are the whole team just soft as ****? Personally I think its partly all of those things.

I'm not saying we are crap and a poor team at this level because we aren't. But theres a horrifically soft centre here at the minute. One which wasnt there under Jack Ross or dare I say it Parkinson.

Again I prefer Johnson over those 2 and am not wanting him to go but seriously something needs to change as we cant continue getting smashed everytime we come up against someone half decent with a few physical players thrown in.
