... of a major Cup competition would've had people in a total spin at one time. I remember following the Lads around during a previous cup run where I was at every game. Chelsea brought a huge following to see Colin West win the game. Spurs away was an incredible night with a battling performance, star turn from Chris Turner and trouble before, during and after the game ... ... a return to the new Spurs ground with 8/9000 allocation would be mental. Leicester away would see a sell out and easier for the NE supporters but Brentford would suit the exiles. Whatever the case this is a big deal for some of us, not everyone, but a semi isn't out of the question
100% mate. Qtr finals are big deals. It is when we smell Wembley. Chelsea home and away. Memories come from cup nights. Too much pressure on leagues now so we under value cups. Might be reasonable but my best memories are all from do or die games.
I remember this. Was at the Chelsea semi and Wembley. Some random bloke started giving me a hug when we got the penalty but sadly it was the first ever penalty miss at a major Wembley final. We lost to a deflection.
Now that I think about it, either Spurs or Brentford away would be nice for the new stadiums. Liverpool at home would be okay, especially if Klopp fields a team like he did v Preston. Chelsea have the club world cup don't they? So might have to field a youth team like Liverpool last season was it? Or the season before
It’s a massive deal, shows how far we have come even though we are still battling to get out of league one. I also value this more than the FA Cup as I think the FA are taking the piss out of fans by playing the semis at Wembley.
My first ever away game was Watford in that cup run. Got a ticket from the travel club after it was sold out when a lad came in with a return while I was there to nab it. I think there was 4 or 5 thousand but not sure exactly how many. Enough to make an awful lot of noise and one of those nights where no one stopped. Started singing at 7 when we got in finished at 10 when finally let out. John Barnes hit the bar right after we scored, but I almost missed it as we were still celebrating the goal. Still my best ever away game, and I've been to a few good ones since (but I missed both the Mags 3-0s, which I suspect may have ran it close )
Sad reality of the money spider ruining the game. All cup competitions completely devalued. Obviously our level it’s different. I imagine a quarter final has generated decent revenue.
Was 9 years old and this was my first season going to matches (lived in Scotland until I was 7) and the biggest memory I have of this cup run was Ashurst leaving Colin West out of the final. What went on there?
You just have to bear soccer am for it.. Unless of course the Carabao Cup twitter page runs it as well.
Imagine if we win the whole shabang and wind up in Europe . And before anyone has a go, I know the odds are stacked massively against us. But it's just three rounds, stranger things have happened... Gotta dream otherwise what's the point
Didn't Swindon town win the FA cup when they were in the 3rd division, with a flying winger call Don Rogers ??
