Hmm I do not have clue whether Stewart is injured or not. But we all know the problems of playing the 1st team in Cup games. The league is most important for me. Hume is injured so if Cirkin has a knock then Neil will probably play there?
If there is any doubt about his shoulder I am all for leaving him out and trying something new. I fully understand where you are coming from and he does lead the line superbly but I would rather lose/rest him for this game than potentially lose him for more.
I’d have Embleton in ahead of O’Nien personally but I think you’re right about going 3 in the middle.
I think we have seen that Embleton is not a winger... I think Pritchard and Embleton are in for the same position, attacking midfielder not 09s/Evans, ie holding midfielder. Pritchard to start and Embleton brought on in the 2nd half. Personally I am not keen on Gooch and Mcgeady had not produced his best form..let's hope it is today, against a team on form.
IF Stewart is out who would take his place, throw AoB. the shirt, or even Dajaku ? could well be. I would be tempted to give Harris, Wearne, and Taylor a role to-day and hold back on McGeady until the 60th minute, he was tremendous at QPR , playing his best football this season imo. he looks a real matchwinner coming off the bench to me, but LJ wont do this, in contrast to his scripted oratory, he is a cautious almost timid operator, and non the worse for that.
I'd completely forgot about Embleton, it goes to show just how good our squad is , I will be happy to-day if we come away with a point, but with our squad there is no reason why we cant win this one. and what a message that would send out, if it did come to pass. OaU.
He came on and did well, a couple of decent balls into the box and almost scored the winner at the death - good save kept him out.
Certainly good news if he is fit., we can only wait and see, but if there is any doubt he should not be risked imo.
I think this is what he will do. A bit more solid in midfield with Neil breaking forward to support Stewart.
