... we apparently couldn't manage without?

Him and Maguire seem to have vanished without trace since we got rid.

At least Maguire is getting some starts, Jones doesn't seem to be able to get off the sub's bench.

  4. Jones is another example of how well we are now being run. We could probably have signed him permanently last summer......but we saw things and we didn't want to. Time was we might have taken a chance with him.....he's the kind of player we were adept at picking up......not under our new regime!

4x 90 minutes for Maguire in recent weeks … I didn’t know he had it in him. <laugh>

Yeah, I had a look after I'd posted as I'd not heard him mentioned much.

I'm pleased he's playing but just as pleased it's not for us.

At least Mcguire had a good few decent games for us. Certainly it was time for him to go, but he did at least affect games on and off for a while.

Jones had one really good game that I saw, and a few touches here and there. Worth a punt at the time, but you could tell why he has bounced around a few clubs. Doesn't seem to relish a physical challenge, so his talents are wasted.

Who actually called Maguire ‘the King’?

Really gets on my tits as I never once heard a living human call him that. Not a single time.

I actually liked that he had a bit of magic once in 6 games but the King? King ****ing prawn maybe, do **** off <laugh>

You sound like some person that sits behind me at the game, because he always scowled at Maguire and his king nickname haha

    Ha,

Never scowled at it mate, like I say wouldn’t have mentioned at the game as I legit never heard anyone call him it.

I liked him for his bits of magic, rare as they were. King though? Behave ha.

Kings don’t get released by Bury.

I think Maguire was a decent player for us in L1 but absolutely the correct decision to get rid.

I miss The Burger King in town to be fair...that's the only king I've known in Sunderland.

Still really like Maguire and out of all the players who left in the summer I would have kept him. Hope he does well at Lincoln.

Got to think he created the name himself and spread it around, I've never heard anyone call him it either. You'd get some weird looks if you started calling a player who only turned up for 1 in 5 games a king.

Think he did, sure there was an urban myth where he asked Donald for a contract, and Donald did what Donald does and jumped on the cheap option

I always cringed at the king stuff. I never saw him play but to me the only king was Charlie Hurley. Chris Maguire wasn’t fit to lace Charlie’s boots.

it was time for him to go a d we haven’t missed him one but. Turned up 1in 5 and blocked the pathway for some of younger players.

That was my issue with him.

There were games when you could see he didn't like the tactics or the opposition and just didn't bother.

The occasional volley, or bit of magic, didn't make up for it imo.

Someone with real talent who just didn't try hard enough, I find I can't really take to players like that.

Had plenty of talent but if he had an ounce of dedication he would have easily played at a higher level. Had more clubs than Tiger Woods which also says a lot about his character.
