There has to be someone out there itching to get some first team football and wanting to prove to their club and themselves they still can do it!

If I'm honest, I'd rather see a small change in tactics/formation than a new striker come in. i can't see why we can't adopt a 4-3-3.

I'd have a front 3 of Forsyth-Sordell-Wichelow, with Forsyth and Wichelow being able to push out wide. obviously you can inter-change any of these (Murray, Massey, Deeney etc)

I'd then have a middle 3 of Hogg-Eustace-Bauben, with Bauben supporting just behind (again, Jenkins coming in maybe)

How they are playing pbviously isn't working, so I would try and mix it up a bit - give the oppositions omething to think about, with maybe some youthful exuberance in the team

Agree with you there Kev - it's the system that needs tinkering with, not the personnel. What we have, both here and out on loan, is ample to get us out of the lower reaches of the division IMO - we just need to mould the tactics to the players, not the players to the tactics.

On youthful exuberance - with Tiny out, I'd also recall Thompson from Brentford and play him - a bit more creativity at the back wouldn't go astray either.

would defo recall Thompson ,Like the 433 option Kev as it might get us trying to play football again! still think a more experienced head to mentor Sean tactically would be of huge benefit! that is if we couldnt have that mentor as the Boss!
O driscoll in the running at pompey! :(

i like your thinking Kev. Norway, so is Boothroyd and a gazillion other managers.

I agree, we have a strong enough team, but we definitely need someone who can score. Bringing in another striker doesn't guarantee that though...so i'd say stick with what we've got, because they're good enough, and change tactics.

Unless the striker is a real 'coup', someone like Macheda maybe, then I hope we don't get in someone and use what we have!

I heard Dave Jones is the favourite for the Pompey job, but that probably changes hourly.

I wonder what a job-share for the Managers position would go like - maybe O'Driscoll share it with SD on a trial basis... But hopefully Bas is talking to SD about things and says if things don't change soon, his role may have to change on one way or another!

Have only ever come across that once before - up here in the Highland League & it didn't work out too well. Two seasons ago, Deveronvale parted ways with their manager a few games before the end of the season (strange decision as they were on course for the title at the time) and replaced him with a couple of guys who had been very successfull in the (even) lower ranks - they ended up in 3rd place. Last season they had an atrocious start, losing 5 and drawing 1 of their first 7 games (take note Norway), so the one of the co-managers departed. In spite of the bad start, they missed out on the title by a whisker - losing the last match to the title winners by one goal conceded with virtually the last kick of the season.

    So I wouldn't recommend it :)

I think Liverpool had it, Evans and Houllier before Houllier took charge on his own? Again, didn't exactly work out

It's not ideal, but just trying to think of ways of getting an experienced head in while letting SD save face a little, and not losing him! Someone coming in may not want to be Assistant (O'Driscoll has been mentioned, he won't want to be a No.2), so was just thinking maybe Bas could suggest a job share

Yes a deal to the end of the season would be more beneficial, for all parties, he gets first team football and we get someone who has played at the higher level:) Of course AV get a player back who has games under his belt!

If it was Nathan Delfouneso then I'd be delighted! Very quick from what I know, and we lack a bit of pace at the moment. I would still rather have a Cleverley/Lansbury type player, who would actually create some decent chances for our strikers and give them a chance to score goals.

I think the Prince will deliver the opportunities and chances for our front men, whoever they may be! :)

Let's hope so! The question is, who will get dropped for him? I'd drop Eustace and play Hogg as the more defensive midfielder where he played before he came to us. If he wasn't our captain, this decision would be a lot easier to make.
