wow no wonder CAPT HINDSIGHT tested positive on budget day [ hasnt he been positive before? ].
I have to say some of the things he has stated are " less impacting" as statements, but pretty much jimmy opposites to labour proposals!
A few on here born pre 1949 have gone through very very much serious hardships .. and not had anything like the soft touch's now available ... minimum wage / earnings top ups / low interest/ food banks/ excess of jobs over unemployed a long list.
Yet loads of peeps are unhappy .. driven by politics that say look after today, it will get softer tomorrow and then the crunch .. no fuel/ no food / no jobs/ even higher crime rates ......... these parties like capt hindsight /snp / liberal / can then step aside and say as they do now yes we screwed it up when in power, or the pandemic screwed everyone but it all fault should have paid out more ...

we should all applaud this budget [ and the efforts of the past 2 years ] because we might all have been looking at a future in rose tinted glasses and a bleak ...very very bleak future had the hindsight cronies been pulling the strings

It's a budget that will screw any chances that Labour thought they might have at the next elections!!

There is a certain irony with PMQ's and the budgets...... the opposition gets at PMQ's [thats Boris ] a rough idea of what is going to be broached thats why Boris in reply can readily come up with facts and figures that often blow the Q's out of the water. For the budget we get the usual leaks and opposition gets a little bit more on basically a list of items ...no figures ... just dealing with such and such [ thats why often the replies to Boris / Risky are sometimes disjointed ] example they try to second guess it and get it wrong but answer is already on their crib sheet. SNP clown is good at that.

What surprised everyone was how well we are actually doing, borrowed £250bn to get us over covid short term and next 5 years borrowing to support todays actions is almost pre pandemic / brexit levels!
I really wonder if Capt Hindsight saw his pre budget and thought ... "I will have to kow tow to Risky and the .gov for an amazing achievement or make myself look more of an idiot in trying to decry it!!! Mind you it was nice to a lady oppo try and put the spoilers on it... brought smiles to my face, for a few moments reminded of Timmy Mallet and his foam rubber mallet..... She was trying to drive 6" nails into a bit oak with it .....

Money is never the issue as we just print money for fun.........It's when inflation hits the roof is the time to panic.
The capital generated & the scaremongering by the "save the planet & climate change" constant headlines , will create a distraction away from the long term effects from all the borrowing & corruption within our system etc ....... as did Covid, as did BLM..................as you know..IMO we are being played and having our pants pulled down....I'm not buying into any of it...

I don’t see a connection, voters are really only interested in whether they feel better off or not, COVID throws that out of the window, it will be down to whether people perceive Boris has done a good job or not. There is still a long way to run in terms of the pandemic so it’s much too early to judge yet. Only time will tell.

try and put the relevant TIC in its rightful place .... please..... or explain the sucked in bit? Certainly nowt to do with budget understanding and its pro's and cons I can see the short term and long term repercussions, but also able to appreciate that the economy and future is dynamic, and therefore able to be adjusted should the need arise. The fluidity of the economy is such that should we get even more back on the straight and narrow [ basically loan deficits ] we can re adjust for a better life style.
We have just had £250bn unforseen spending [by way of loans over economy] and yet for 4 years after this likely to not need to borrow more than a similar amount ... in total. [ I am assuming you know how it all works ? ]

was looking for an apt brexit or Corbyn lost the GE thread but will post here ..... I do not condone THREATS or indeed comments that possibly resulted from them being made..... however

Labour's deputy leader Angela Rayner has "unreservedly" apologised for comments made at her party's conference where she called Conservatives "scum".

The MP initially stood by her remarks saying she would say sorry when the PM apologised for his own past comments.

However, in a Facebook post, Ms Rayner said she had since reflected on "our political debate" and the "abuse that now seems to feature all too often".

She added that in the future she would be "more careful" about her language.

to be fair Capt H didnt actually admonish her for saying what she did, but obviously the realization of yesterdays conclusions of the trial and "quality" of the budget has opened the eyes to to the future... shame she had to wait this long and had it forced upon her apologise..

Brexit... Fishing... TRAWLER IMPOUNDED.... this is a big step, escalation by the French of what may lay ahead .. cod wars all over again? They have set the bar, overkill on a peice of paper/ info that is maybe not in order due to a clerical error. the french want more boats than ours in our waters and less in theirs ! We should now get very tough on them as they are lambasting the agreement with threats and blackmail. the EU is falling apart now attempting to fine Poland 1.5m euro a day for not doing as they are told .... is polexit going to be next?

I don’t see any evidence she was forced into an apology, more that on reflection she had the good grace to admit her language was not in good taste.
Quality Budget - yeh right !!

    edit
BTW it’s a shame our PM doesn’t have similar standards and apologies whole heartedly for some of the disgraceful remarks he’s made in the past .
The man is a complete buffoon.

What would you expect from a budget, bear in mind the results are based partly on what is achieved, and of course you have to allow it can be adjusted +/- in future depending on unknown factors. imagine should Rischi have been able to to do a budget without the £250bn cost of the covid pandemic. Also take into consideration the £20 uplift was only due to Covid .... and the taper could have been even sharper than it was maybe down to 45p

I guess you dont like him!

I was questioning your reference to a “quality “ budget , your reply suggests you agree with me.

No, to agree with you would support my take it is a quality budget .. [ the opposite to poor ] "yeh right" is in the negative/ disagreement context ... so what would you do as the chancellor? in these very trying and unstable times...
