Last season in the corresponding fixture we fell to our second home defeat in a row due to an Alzate goal just after HT And while Potter has moulded a team based on his own ethos rather than just thrown together they still have the same failing of not scoring enough for all their neat play .Like us they made wholesale changes for their FA Cup tie but unlike us they didn’t progress to the QF’s. Think our team pretty much picks itself though Konate for Matip is a possibility PL 6-3-0 CL 3-0-0 LC 2-0-0
Big week for us. Brighton a toughish mid table opponent who drew 3 and lost 1 before this. Lost it city and drew to arsenal but also palace and norwich. Seems to scream not scoring enough until you look back further to them beating everton and leicester. We just need a good start imo. The big week has atletico midweek and west ham the following weekend. I'd want to see a good controlled performance here where we do enough and get ready for atletico where a win takes the entire group with 2 to spare.
At home to Brighton on Saturday, this is a 3 pm kick off. Brighton won here last year by one odd goal. Brighton are currently flying high beyond people expectations. It is not going to be easy game for Liverpool, Liverpool winning this, will take them to the top of the table at least for few hours before Chelsea play New Castle at 17:30. As you know I will always predict home win for Liverpool. My prediction; Liverpool 2:0 Brighton. Managers: Liverpool Jurgen Klopp. Brighton : Graham Potter Referee is MIKE DEAN. please log in to view this image Referee: Mike Dean. Assistants: Eddie Smart, Mark Scholes. LAWRO HAS GONE FOR HOME WIN 3:0 Liverpool v Brighton Brighton have really impressed me so far and even when they were 3-0 down against Manchester City last weekend they kept going and caused City some problems. Playing against City and Liverpool is different gravy to the teams the Seagulls have beaten this season, though, so I am going for them to get the same result - a defeat. It is now 14 games unbeaten for Liverpool in all competitions this season, and they have won 11 of them. I am fortunate enough to know from my own playing days how their players must be feeling at the moment - whoever they play, they must think they will win because everyone is flying. Lawro's prediction: 3-0 Roger's prediction: I can't see Brighton keeping Liverpool out. 4-0
SKYSPORTS HAS GONE FOR 1: 1 DRAW. Liverpool vs Brighton, Saturday 3pm - Play Super 6 to win £250,000! Get Brighton on your side. I don't need to tell you how good Liverpool can be but they are easily ignored here at a very skinny 2/9 with Sky Bet when you consider the level of opposition. The 12/1 for a Brighton win doesn't float my boat due to their lack of top-six quality in the final third but the draw at over 5/1 with Sky Bet and Brighton with a +2 handicap start at 11/10 certainly have got my punting juices flowing. In their last 21 games against teams that finished in the top-nine of the Premier League last season, Brighton have only lost three games by more than one goal. Included in that run is a 1-0 win at Anfield and a 1-1 draw with Klopp's men at the Amex last season. Of course, Liverpool are a more ruthless beast this season, dishing out thrashings to most teams they meet. They have scored at least three goals in nine of their last 11 matches. Frightening. However, Brighton are a defensively shrewd side capable of keeping the match tight. Since the turn of the year, Brighton's expected goals against figure of 30.07 is only bettered by Chelsea and Manchester City ranking them higher than Liverpool and they have kept just as many clean sheets as the Reds (13). Along with taking a positive view on Brighton's chances in the match markets, I also want to invest in the amount of shots they have at Anfield. Graham Potter's men have little fear when tasked with taking on the big boys. In their last two fixtures with Man City, Potter's side have managed an average of 14.5 shots per 90 minutes. That's an amazing effort when you consider City usually average around 6.5 shots per 90 minutes in the Pep Guardiola era. And in four fixtures against Liverpool, Brighton have posted shots totals that read: 11, 13, 12 and 12. Jurgen Klopp's men do allow space for the opposition which does normally lead to shots on their goal. Burnley (9), Crystal Palace (13), Norwich (14) and Brentford (12) have all managed to post numerous attempts on Alisson's goal this season and Brighton have a greater attacking process than those four teams. Sky Bet have dangled a big carrot with 11/8 on offer about Brighton having 10 shots or more. SCORE PREDICTION: 1-1
