Maybe we should start taking red and white toilet brushes to the games.

Bournemouth are surprising me at the moment. Great to see them top of the Championship and I hope they can stay there. Threats? Fulham, WBA and I feel Sheffield United will improve as the season progresses.

Well McCarthy getting the sack this afternoon has added to the list of experienced managers out of work, which is impressive if you consider the clubs they have managed. Besides McCarthy there's Bruce, Hughton, Hughes, Howe, Fat Sam, Adkins, Lennon, Who of that lot would improve any side in the PL? Maybe in the Championship and League 1 bur definitely not any PL side.

Of the those mentioned, what exactly is Eddie Howe waiting for? My advice to him would be to manage abroad for a few seasons in the second tier in Germany for example and come back an enriched person having studied German coaching methods as well as learning a language. It did Potter no harm nor Roy Hodgson

A brilliant, IMO, story about Brian Clough, related by Mark Crossley.

I doubt Howe would do that as it is a risk. As it is, he could 100% get a good championship job and there may well be premier league sides that would give him a go. If he goes abroad and fails he will have to rebuild his reputation.

I agree it would probably make him a better coach and maybe improve his career, but it is a risk.

Life is a risk. I would love him.to apply for the Charlton job, a Championship club with PL potential at the wrong end of League 1. I believe he could do a great job there.

I've just watched a few of those youtube clips from Mark Crossley about Clough, they're very entertaining. I think you have to be old enough to know what Clough was like and why the stories are funny, he was certainly a one-off character. They say he was "the best manager England never had" but I honestly don't think it would've worked, similar to Leeds because big names wouldn't take the abuse he dished out.

There were times when he made me cringe, but he was one of a kind and a great manager, for some clubs.

He had some pretty big names in the Forest side that won him the League title and 2 European Cups.

Howe got homesick in Burnley so can't see him leaving these shores.

He's been getting a lot of flak but it will be interesting to see if anyone can do any better with that utter binfire of a club at the moment.

The problems run a lot deeper than just the manager.
