Don't think there's much doubt after last night that Drameh is the better prospect at right back than Shackleton. Let's get the lad in whilst Ayling is injured otherwise his next opportunity might be some way off. It's a bit different for strikers, Joffy will get plenty of minutes from now on. Greenwood seems to have matured since we last saw him as well.
Exactly, the pace and physicality of games slows late on too, so it’s a little easier to adjust as a sub. I think he’ll adjust, quicker than most… he has that natural low centre of gravity physicality, but the pace of the game and as you say nervous energy are draining… and some positions more draining than others in terms of legwork, hence why box2box midfielders and strikers are primary substitutions.
Of ghe 4 top kids signings summer of 2020 Joffy is now an established striker option for the first team aged 19. Cody Drameh is now an established first team option at RB aged 19. summerville is an established first option on either wing aged 19m Sam Greenwood has now played for the first team 3 times and is looking like an option for first team aged 19. So all in all Victor Orta has delivered 4 out 4 who inside a year have grown and developed to first team players. On top of that we als a 5th player who has also made it and he came from within the club, Charlie Cresswell our 5th academy star part of the first team. keep your eyes on Lewis Bate who was brought in this Summer from Chelsea and who Bielsa says cannthread a ball through the eye of a needle. Watch out fir Jude Bellinghams best mate and former Birmingham City academy product Amari Miller. Yet another flying winger who can also play in the middle. Young McGurk was with Joffy at Wigan and Liverpool and both mashed Liverpool a few weeks ago and Sean McGurk cheekily tweeted Klopp and said “Like us now do ya” McGurk scores goals and can play wing or AM and is another to watch out for. We have seen how introducing players early and who have a bad experience can damage them, but the latest kids brought in seem to be at a higher level than those kids we have had to let go.
Afternoon all… Roberts didn’t excite me, he cost us £2.5m but he wasn’t the worst on the pitch. Rodrigo has a terrible first touch, I swear he lost the ball more than Roberts, he cost £27m
How much has Lord Bamford being out messed us up? The role he plays is so important and no one else we have for that position can do it. I saw ell say that Joffy should have come straight in for Bamford but again I just don't see him doing what Bamford does. The whole team team set up falls apart when that figure head isn't their working as hard as he does. I think it could explain the poor form of Harrison and James as well.
This is a huge point and real. Joffy in an interview this summer said Bielsa has told him what he has to do to break through. He needs to do what Bamford does. He admitted its hard work learning to do it after growing up as a striker. He now has to lead the line, play with his back to goal, tackle back and if that means chase bis man to his own corner flag he has to do that and then charge back up top. He says he gets it and is learning a lot and is now fitter than hes ever been. Fast Eddie is still doing fast Eddie whereas Joffy is now able to do Joffy, Fast Eddie and Bamford is coming
PHIL HAY: "There were bits of the first half where the counter attacking looked like Bielsa’s Leeds - albeit without the final ball. They were growing into the tie. But it got away from them so easily in the second half, which was a non-event from Leeds’ point of view. It’s a game which adds to the feeling that it’s not all there. Leeds can do it in flashes but they’re not serving up complete performances."
Exactly what I said, no end product from the wingers or midfield, so lits of energy expended on nothing. However we still havent played our first 11 once this season and maybe Hay should reflect on that before gobbing off
He has to do what Bamford does, miss more chances than he converts Please noooooooo That's a very difficult thing to do
