Nearly called it right, if Geads effort had gone in, but pens settled it, the lads just keep on giving, what an effort by the whole squad, doesn't matter who we get next round as these cup games are our free hit with no pressure. Brilliant support again, KLD starting to get a taste of why he came to this club. HTL.
He’s offside because the defender is behind the goalkeeper. This quite famously happened and baffled everyone in the South Africa World Cup I think it was.
Slow down the highlights and in the initial build up there is a QPR player in an offside position affecting play, but as Smug says who gives a duck.
Is that the bloke running out as the ball is played over the top causes the ball to be headed out by defender?
The offside line is the second-to-last defender. In this case it was the goalkeeper and he was still in front of their forward so it was definitely onside.
Well, that was fun. Cracking atmosphere and at no point was I fearful of getting done by them. Canny game. Voice has gone a bit. Some of their fans were knobs after the game, little men trying to be hard but they just got laughed at. bring on the next round
That's my interpretation of the offside as well. The player who came from an offside position was the first to touch the ball after the defensive headed clearance, he then plays the ball for the player who crosses it for the goal. Hence he is the player offside.
Aye wasn’t there a goal first game of SA World Cup though that because a defender was behind the keeper that made it offside? 2 defenders behind a keeper makes it on? Also there’s the ahead of play thing, he’s not level with the crosser. I agree we got lucky and for me it’s offside just working out why it was given.
I think I vaguely remember that happening at the WC but can't remember the exact circumstances, mate. In this instance, Bournemouth are attacking so the second last defender (circled) is the line of offside. It doesn't need to be a goalkeeper involved, it's usually a goalkeeper and the last defender but it can be the other way around or even two defenders with the goalkeeper further up the pitch. please log in to view this image There's a QPR player in an offside position when the original cross comes in but he's running away from the play and not interfering. The ball across to Austin for the 'goal' is perfectly legitimate because he's in an onside position with two defensive players in front of him.
If you think that ref's bad - and I agree he wasn't good, then go and see some of the ref's in League 1. We had Coco The Clown refereeing our game last Saturday. Atrocious!
Offside position It is not an offence to be in an offside position. A player is in an offside position if: any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents’ half (excluding the halfway line) and any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent Looking at the pic, the goalscorer is ahead of the ball, hence offside.
I have not got the freeze frame But was the offside not given for the qpr man who came from an offside to head back the ball into the mix
But the ball is played directly to him. If he’s not there, the player doesn’t head the ball and the keeper collects it.
