No shame in losing that. Brilliant performance from a team most on here if I have it correct, thought would get a stuffing. Always sad to see a youngster miss a vital penalty, but it’s part of the growing process. Well played Saints, proud of you.
I honestly don’t care. That was a magnificent performance against the league leaders and European champions. We are officially better than Norwich.
Hey, look, the two players I was pretty sure were going to miss did miss. But at least Mount's was saved. A brilliant, gutsy performance there, which really could have gone either way, and a LOAD of positives (not least Lyanco, the continued performance of Diallo and Salisu, Fraser, KWP). Nice to see Smallbone return, though a sad way to end it for him. Really proud of that tonight. Maybe people might just stop worrying so much about both relegation and Ralph, but that's as much of a pipe-dream as thinking that Theo is going to be good.
Shame but thought we played well tonight, lycano was much improved and Stu Armstrong got 75 for match fitness so should be good to go against Watford. My biggest take away from tonight though is that KWP needs to get back in our starting XI at right back. He is so good and we need him on the pitch.
I'm not even that disappointed. It's not as if you get a great prize if you win the trophy - a place in that stupid Conference League. Let's have another go at the FA Cup though. But can't fault any of the players tonight. I'm now really looking forward to making the trip to Watford on Saturday.
Just a shame it wasn’t on TV. The whole world sees us get tanked 9-0, but don’t see a great Saints performance.
Probably the best thing to come out of tonight was Lyanco. Only one match, I appreciate, but given that Bednarek isn't in the greatest form right now, it's given Ralph a nice option now.
Well, we gave Chelsea a run for their money and they were hanging on at the end. Happy with the performance. Disappointed with the two missed penalties. Long was far more impactful than Walcott.
I'm fine with it. We've been playing well for the majority of this season, and this is another step forwards.
I'm not disappointed more because of the nature of the performance. Shaky at the back but looked dangerous going forward throughout the match with a much changed team (including a few who arguably should be starting more regularly).
I appreciate that Liverpool are far, far better than us but they showed Watford can't cope with the pressing game. So I am very optimistic about Saturday.
